As most of you know, for the past 3 years I've been helping a special group of kids in Haiti. What started as a casual relationship with a children's home through an organization I was with in 2012 turned into a connection and dedication to 24 kids that I never could have imagined. The kids at Hope For Life Children's Home. Allows for the children's nutritional, educational, and medical needs to be met. While more sponsors are still needed, there is a solid base of sponsors already that are helping t...

This blog post was originally posted on FHM's blog. As the In-Country Coordinator for FHM. I'm sure you can imagine that I get lots of questions about living and working in Haiti. Most are related to Haitian culture, language, and development projects, but some are more personal. Several of our guests have wanted to know what I do when I have a break from my guesthouse duties. So. what do I do for fun? Well, I'm so glad you asked! I often pair my beach day with one of these bad boys! I love to go visit m...

Where He leads...: July 2014

I first met Evenson and his family in March when a team from One Small House. Stayed here at the guesthouse. Their primary purpose for the trip was to help build a house for Evenson's family. I made a couple visits to the building site and spent some time getting to know the family. Evenson and his wife Marisolin had five children at the time with a sixth child on the way! Was able to help the parents rescue their children and escape those terrible living conditions. To help them. Because I simply ca...

For the past couple years, thanks to your help, we've been able to send nearly a dozen children to school! I started the school sponsorship program in 2012 after meeting a single mom who asked to put her three boys in a children's home run by a friend of mine. When I pressed further into the issue of her not feeling able to care for her children, the bottom line was that she wanted her kids to have an education. something she couldn't afford to provide for them. And it's so good I'll use it again:. This ...

This morning I was watching a portion of one of Beth Moore's study videos on YouTube. She started it out with an encouragement and challenge to draw close to God. To seek His heart. I think what Beth said is true of me so much of the time. "We can get caught up seeking our calling and our ministry rather than seeking His heart." Preach it, sister! Important. It's not anything I can do. For God, for myself, or for others. It is simply being. Help me stay focused on You as I live for You each and every day.
