Last Day’s Reflection: Gratitude – JOHN HINES
https://coachhinesblogs.com/2014/06/06/last-days-reflection-gratitude
Handcrafted Poetry and Other Musings. Last Day’s Reflection: Gratitude. This is Blog Post No. 1 as part of the #10SummerBlogs community. It is ninety minutes after arriving home on the last day of school and I am rereading some of the final reflections of my AP Psychology students. We enter this profession to inspire and we often end up as the inspired. First, Mr. Hines lays out the course for your success. The class will challenge your ideas and stimulate new types of thinking. Some things I used to (so...
Absurd Disciplines – JOHN HINES
https://coachhinesblogs.com/2014/07/16/absurd-disciplines
Handcrafted Poetry and Other Musings. We’ve been meeting 5 or more days/week for 5 weeks now throughout the summer in preparation for the upcoming Cross Country season. As I stood in front of the 16 boys in attendance this morning at 6:15 am after they had run their 2 lap Kenyan shuffle , I was inspired to expound a bit on today’s quote of the day. Discipline does the work when we don’t feel like it. How does this work? Cheers to discipline, decision, and doing! Have a great day! Click to share on Pinter...
Funny How Places Can Be – JOHN HINES
https://coachhinesblogs.com/2014/07/10/funny-how-places-can-be
Handcrafted Poetry and Other Musings. Funny How Places Can Be. Day One of our vacation. We are back in our quiet placethe little Red Barn. A nine hour drive became a twelve hour trip after minor car trouble slowed us in one of our favorite towns–Gainesville, FL. About Gainesville she said, it still fits like an old shoe Funny how places can be. We arrived at 2:30 am–about one hour before I usually awake on work days. Imagining the droplets rolling off the leaf, leaving the leaf and landingthudKERPLUNCK!
There’s One Born Every Minute – JOHN HINES
https://coachhinesblogs.com/2014/04/18/theres-one-born-every-minute
Handcrafted Poetry and Other Musings. There’s One Born Every Minute. Never really knew what teachers do. Four and a half years into the career, people ask me what keeps me going. You see there is a drop-out rate that is not being discussed often enough-the dropout rate of new teachers. Some reports suggest it is near 50% for U.S. teachers within the first three years of teaching. How does this impact the system? How does this impact students? What can/should be done about it? What keeps me going? Century...
Skeptic to Pirate! – JOHN HINES
https://coachhinesblogs.com/2014/04/27/skeptic-to-pirate
Handcrafted Poetry and Other Musings. Okayshe didn’t twist my arm or bribe me in any way, but she did make it possible for the two of us to attend this Saturday’s Teach Like a Pirate. Seminar with Dave Burgess in Orlando when she registered us a few weeks before the event and told me we were going. All week long, I met the opportunity with skepticism even after she brought a copy of the book home and I thumbed through it one tired, sleep deprived evening. Teach like a pirate? A pirate’s life for me!

coachhink | Smile! You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever
You’re at the best WordPress.com site ever. February 22, 2015. September 4, 2014. 1 Find an honest bookie–a real oxymoron –they are all crooks, you know. 2 Never bet a Bears’ game–either way–they are impossible. 3 Always remember—A team is never as good or as bad as it looked the previous week. 4 Never “chase” a team–don’t think, “Well, they have to win this week.”. 5 Don’t tell your spouse whether you win or lose–ever. Keep your composure, whether. You hit big or tanked. August 26, 2014. 2 Admit your bi...
