Barb's Blessings . . . Counting them one by one.: December 2009

Friday, December 25, 2009. Sticky Buns. (Pecans, brown sugar and karo syrup.) Yum. Note to self: Don't use a spring form release pan to bake them in. The sticky stuff leaked out and burned on the bottom of my oven and filled the kitchen with smoke. Thank goodness for a self cleaning oven.). Cinnamon rolls for the purists in the family. The breakfast bounty: Scrambled eggs, hash browns, smoked sausage and Canadian bacon and a sticky bun. Merry Christmas one and all. Links to this post. Links to this post.

Barb's Blessings . . . Counting them one by one.: February 2010
http://barbarasivad.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 28, 2010. My beautiful Mother in Law, Joyce Davis. What a day for Canada. I have to confess that I was glad Canada won the hockey game this afternoon. It simply meant more to them then it did to us. It was the culmination of a wonderful winter Olympics. Which can be loosely translated as something similar to our "you know," but much more versatile. Joyce and Sterling in front of the Cardston Alberta Temple in 2000,. Where they were married in 1946. Our home and native land! I have been m...

Barb's Blessings . . . Counting them one by one.: June 2010
http://barbarasivad.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 20, 2010. I think I am who I thought I was again. That never happened at RCH. All of the administrative staff are purposely ignored as though they were office supplies. I wasn't used to that because I had never been treated that way at Fleetwood. I am relieved to find it was unique to RCH and not standard practice in all other businesses. Links to this post. Saturday, June 5, 2010. This picture (above) was published in Northwest Sportsman Magazine's online edition this week. C jane enjoy it.

Sunday, May 23, 2010. Coming to the Promished Land. I thought I understood what it took to successfully run a hospital. I watched two completely different adminisrators run Riverside Community over 2 1/2 years. I studied the business until I understood the forces that made it successful or not. It is a challenging- I think the MOST challenging- business model there is. Someone told me last week that Tom Peters. Thinks so too. Nice to know I am as intuitive as Tom Peters. Employee spiritual care promotes ...

Barb's Blessings . . . Counting them one by one.: April 2010
http://barbarasivad.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 30, 2010. It has been hard for me to get to the temple very often since I started the job at the hospital 2 1/2 years ago. I was working longer hours and didn't have the flexibility to take any time off like I used to do at Fleetwood. We used to take an afternoon off every couple of months and go into the LA temple and do a couple of sessions, eat some dinner and come home after the traffic had cleared. The ups and downs of it are the worst. I have questioned my worthiness to be loved and v...

Barb's Blessings . . . Counting them one by one.: November 2010
http://barbarasivad.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 20, 2010. They say it never rains in Southern California! But it's been raining all day . . . all day. I planted my sweet peas last Saturday so this is making them very happy. Currently I am waiting for it to clear up a little so I can run to Costco or Staters or Wal Mart - somewhere to replenish the scarcity of supplies here in our little humble abode. We need the rain desperately so rain is good, just not on Saturday, my only day to get anything done. Life is good. I am grateful.
