SLS 302 : Narae Shin. Weekly Reading Reflection #1) Language Learning in Early Childhood. SLS 302 : Second Language Learning. Children’s language acquisition in children has been the most intriguing problem for child development theorists. Behaviorism, innatism, interactism, connectionism and so on are influential theories explaining how children acquire language especially their first language. Among them, I am highly interested in behaviorism and innatism because both present totally opposite p...

SLS 302 : Narae Shin. Weekly Reflection #2) Bilingual Minds. I understand both the strong point and the weak point of bilinguals, but, still, I think cognitive development and linguistic development is depends on individuals’ abilities. Thus, for me, it seems to be over-generalizing. However, if what they are arguing is true, I wonder is there any pedagogical method for bilinguals to develop both cognitive abilities and lexical abilities? Monthly Archives: September 2013. Reflection Response #4 Week 5. September 27, 2013. I liked the example that Prof. Wilding said to us in class about the omelet, where we have eggs, skills, a kitchen, and a recipe. I thought it was interesting how he tied everything into SLL and how the eggs became the vocabulary. It is true that we need to learn words before we can start doing anything in a language. (Maybe the egg really did come before the chicken.). Reflection Response #3 Week 4. September 22, 2013.
