At the present time Cockermouth Angling Association enjoys most of its fishing on the Rivers Derwent and Cocker under lease from the Castle Fisheries and other riparian owners, for which the association make annual payments. The Association purchased its first fishing rights on the River Cocker in 1972 and on the River Derwent in 1984. It also leases further fishing rights on both rivers from various riparian owners.
