The Coco de Mer Educational Fund. Was started after the Asian Tsunami of 2004. Since then we have supported over 50 children. The university graduates have mostly been with us for 7 years. Apart from contributing to schooling, the Fund is like a club in that the students meet each other at least once a year for the outing and so form friendships and exchange ideas. The Coco de Mer Educational Fund Story. Barry and Christiane Cager were sailing their yacht Coco de Mer from Langkawi to Phuket on Boxing Day, Sunday 26th December. The tsunami went underneath the yacht completely unnoticed as at the time they were sailing offshore with 25 metres under their keel. Since 2005, the Coco De Mer Fund has been involved in a number of activities. Below are some of the highlights from the past few years. We wanted to do something to help so went to visit the restaurants on Sai Kaew Beach on the west coast where we often used to eat. We decided to start the tsunami appeal to rebuild these restaurants.
