Watercolour and a bit of white acrylic for the highlights. Another little practice but this time with a bit more colour. Now that I have the time, what would you like to see more of on the blog? Just did this one almost as a little painting exercise, plus I really fancied just painting some food. In between binge-watching episodes of Orange is the New Black and watching the World Cup I've gradually started sketching again because I finished Uni a couple of weeks ago!

This unexpectedly led to a request to add more to this little collection. Occasionally new challenges can be rewarding, it can be fun trying your hand at something different. Being told an idea is also particularly useful when you feel as though you're experiencing a creative block - which happens to everyone from time to time.

For some bizarre reason, I really love umbrellas. What is it about them, anyway? Apart from keeping me warm and cosy on wet days, they just have that whimsical factor about them. Maybe I watched Mary Poppins too much as a child. Anyway, I also love that umbrellas are blank canvases that have so much potential for customisation. Sadly I tend to grab the nearest one (usually a freebie) when I'm rushing out the door, but some designs can be so intricate! Now I just have to wait for the perfect day to use it...

For someone who's such a self-proclaimed sweet tooth, I've only been to a handful of high teas in my lifetime. While my list of places to check off reaches the floor, it just seems like there's never an occasion special enough for high tea because it's just so. extravagant. So naturally, it was pretty special when I visited the Gallery Tea Lounge at the Sheraton a few weeks ago for a friend's 21st! I definitely need one in my future home now. It's crazy how fast times passes and on May 9th of this year, it marked my 5 year anniversary of leaving school. We all got invited to a school reunion and I couldn't wait to go back and see how much of it had remained the same and changed too. Here's a few photos to share though :). We noticed in the handout that they put in a picture of Susan, Nadine and I in the old common room and by chance in the lunch we were sitting together as well! Sitting in our old chemistry seats! I either didn't have the time or didn't have the tools, but I recently found a class on how to incorporate textures into digital illustrations and because I'd been looking for something like this for so long I felt motivated to have a go!
