When Internet stopped and continued. TED: Jennifer Pahlka: Coding a better government – Jennifer Pahlka (2012). Can government be run like the Internet, permissionless and open? When Internet stopped and continued. Google Reader, farewell. For years I have been using Google Reader. To keep up to date with websites as I could read them when I had time and I saw which sites where updated. Even if they where idle for months, so a dream for everyone who has a time management plan in place. Google Reader had a webinterface, an API for third-party applications like Feedly. Application, also discontinued and will also stop working this summer. Maybe I’ll move all podcasts bac...For now...

When Internet stopped and continued. Installing SSL-certificates on Debian. Installing and configuring SSL certificates is always an issue as how to create them and where to store them. Most of the time people can find the procedure on how to create them, but they forget all the places where they have placed them. Some initiatives exist to have centralized key stores on systems, but getting applications to use them is still a problem. Sudo apt-get install ssl-cert. User or members of the group ssl-cert.

When Internet stopped and continued. Using PAM to allow access. Over the years PAM. Pluggable Authentication Modules) has become the standard on Solaris and Linux, and others like AIX and the known BSD’s are following. But by default all services that use PAM are allowing all users to use it unless the service itself takes action. So why not bring the authorization part to PAM and make the decision to allow access directly in PAM? For this we use a module called. Passdb pam { args = session=yes dovecot }.

When Internet stopped and continued. When do other banks start to publish SPF records? In the past a lot of phishing. Was going towards customers of the Dutch bank Postbank. It continued for years and when the bank finally merged with ING the phishing attacks adopted the new name quickly. In both cases the bank was publishing closed SPF. When Internet stopped and continued. The hunt for /etc/.pwd.lock. After upgrade Debian to kernel 3.0.0, I saw a hidden file called .pwd.lock in /etc which I didn’t noticed before. Checking other machines gave the same result as shown below, but both without a matching Debian-package or manpage. As time match at least the installation date of the machine and exists on other machines it appears to be a valid file, but with what purpose? At Sourceware confirmed that both lckpwdf. Google looks nice in many ways and promises. 8220;not to be evil”. The cloud thingy made me slowly also wonder about my next workstation.
