A technical blog covering full-stack web development. Has become my standard tooling for front-end assets in recent times. Though for all the in-depth documentation I found the learning curve steep and the number of options confusing. So Id like to share some of what I learnt. Praise for jsdelivr.com. I was in the market for a CDN recently. Not one for my own content but one for pulling in libraries like jQuery, Moment and Marked. Knockout custom binding handlers. For the excellent node-inspector. Improving the Carnac Codebase and Rx Usage (Part 1). Is an open source project created as part of Code52. It is a simple utility which overlays key presses on your screen as you type which is pretty handy for presentations. Carnac also ships with some keymaps for different applications so it understands when you are pressing shortcuts. Recently Scott Hanselman blogged about a Quake Mode console. Part 1 - Refactoring the InterceptKeys class. Part 2 - Refactoring the MessageProvider class. Is a singleton a...

Peter Provost's Geek Noise. Rants, rambles, news and notes from another geek. Switching the Blog to Octopress. Sunday, April 15, 2012 @ 04:12 PM. A week or so ago, Mark Groves. Mentioned to me that he was thinking about going to a totally static blog system for his photo site. He pointed me to some of the cool work done by the Code 52. Guys, particularly Pretzel. I’ve been a fan of Markdown. For quite a while and have been using it on my GitHub project pages. For its stylesheet stuff (as opposed to Less.

Dropping WordPress for Pretzel. A few months back I read an post by GitHub founder Tom Preston-Werner. Called Blogging Like a Hacker. It really struck a nerve in me, why had we moved to huge CMS systems for little things like blogs? The idea of building a set of static HTML pages and pushing to a web server just made sense to me. Since I don’t get to code as often as I would like anymore, I thought this would be a good opportunity to play around. Enable my photography posts. Write posts in Markdown.

Moving from WordPress to FunnelWeb

Moving from WordPress to FunnelWeb. Begin this year, I decided to pick up blogging again. I had some good ideas to blog about (most of which I probably forgot already), but one thing kept me from doing so: WordPress. I think WordPress has a great platform, but I've never found the actual blogging to feel natural. This is mostly due to the online editor which is just really, really awful to work with. The biggest dealbreaker for me? The lack of control. Looking at alternative blog engines, I met OctoPress.
