The breath sensor instrument into which a visitor exhales to create Breath Vessel forms. Collage of the virtual 3D models generated. An exhalation. Embodied air, full of the waste of the human body as it churns air and environment into sustenance. Replete with meaning: the long exasperated sigh, the frail choked breath, the sound of a body relaxing. In Hebrew the word רוח can be translated as breath, wind, or spirit, as can the Hindu. We live in a networked world to which we find ourselves entirely ill-adapted, clinging to outdated means of perceiving and understanding our environment. My thesis first proposes how network ontology may be understood through the concept of assemblages, and then explores ways in which participants in these processes might adopt a network (or ecological) sensibility and new modes of perception that render them better adapted to act within network ontologies. Are the result of collaborations with code: pixels drawn by the computer on top of photographs found on Google Images. The rules given to the computer program are simple: to generatively grow assemblages of squares whose colour is based on the colour of the pixels in that location of the image. S is a curated selection of the most architecture-like of the resulting forms. Larr; Capacitive Earrings. MFA Thesis Proposal →. Theme by Bling Themes.

And I am a machinophile, seeking to understand the machine logics all around us. We are all becoming-machine anyway. Why shouldn’t we sing alongside the voices of compressors and air pumps? Why shouldn’t we care for robots in the same way we care for pets, find friendship in vehicles and alarms? The same electric energy running through all of us.
