Gripping Leads

As everyone knows,gripping leads are a great way of holding the ground when you are fishing in a strong tide,a good wind,or choppy seas.The downside of them is that they are quite a bit dearer than plain leads,and if you fish them on rocky ground,they may snag and cause you to lose your trace. Using this method you can covert your plain leads to grips,and because they use softer wire,you can still use them on rocky ground. Simply clamp your lead in a vice and drill a hole throught the bottom end.

Wire Booms

This is a way I use to knock up some booms for float fishing.It lets me fish two or 3 baits without the snoods tangling up. All you need is some copper electrical wire such as we got when we stripped the cable for the tubing,and a drill. Select a piece of wire around 24 inches long,flod it in half and twist it up to about 8 inches from the open ends using a hook in a battery drill. You should now have something like in this picture.

Large Floats

All you need to do this is a kids drinks bottle,small angle bracket,nut and bolt,and.that's it. Firstly,drill a hole to suit your bolt in the lid of your bottle.If you make the hole 1mm less than the girth of your bolt,being plastic your bolt will "screw" in making a good seal. Tighten up with a washer and nut,remembering to have the bracket on the outside of the lid first,as in the picture.
