However, I think I have arrived at a point where I can look at myself (and laugh at myself) daily when I realize, "Yep! Here are ten ways I know I'm a mama, interspersed with some cute pics taken lately! Anything to get us out of the house is great in my book. 7 Speaking of memorizing, I have memorized all of the 8 or so books that we read to Av...

The Norwood Nest: Ava's First Christmas
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2014/02/avas-first-christmas.html
Monday, February 24, 2014. I'm a little late on the posting, but Ava's first Christmas was wonderful! Warning: picture overload. We got to have a little Christmas at home. Then, we traveled to Texas and visited with both of our families. The week before Christmas, we had a little Christmas morning celebration at our house with presents, cinnamon rolls, and breakfast casserole, and it was a great morning! Ava loved her stacking cups and Mozart cube from Winnie and Papa C. OK, get off my chair now, Blazer!

The Norwood Nest: February 2013

Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Weight - 8 lbs. 13.5 oz (39th percentile). Head - 14 in (88th percentile). Height - 21.25 in (55th percentile). She's also beginning to make some sounds (besides screaming) and smile every once in a while! We've begun giving her a breast milk bottle every few days, and I was so worried it was going to be a battle. However, she took it like a champ and sucks down a bottle in no time whenever Brent gives her one. Finally, finally. Ava likes the swing! We were so bummed that sh...

The Norwood Nest: January 2014
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 17, 2014. We have two very talented photographers in our church, and they were kind enough to take our Christmas card photos this year! There are not many pretty outdoor places in Bettendorf, Iowa in December, so we decided to take them in our home! Thanks, Jarek and AJ of Plume Creative. For taking such amazing pictures of our family! Posted by Katie Norwood. Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Ten and Eleven Months. In these two months, Ava learned to pull up, cruise, and walk! I am starting t...

Monday, February 24, 2014. Ava would like to tell you about her trip to Dallas to visit Winnie and Papa C last week. She insisted that we include a million pictures because she looks so cute in all of them. She's such a diva ;-)}. I'm going to Texas on an AIRPLANE? I need to fuel up with fistfuls of cheerios. Mama kept me busy with new toys, lots of snacks, and even an episode of Dora with my sweet new pink headphones. The nice people at American gave us the only empty seat on the plane! I rode on a swin...

The Norwood Nest: December 2013

Thursday, December 5, 2013. One thing Iowa has that Texas does not: BASEMENTS. A basement is a beautiful thing, y'all! When we walked into our basement, we were amazed. So much space we've never had before! What would we do. The playroom is tucked back in this great little alcove of the basement, and it opens up into a wider space for her to run around. One of Ava's favorite parts of the playroom are these amazing play tunnels from IKEA. She crawls through there at least 10 times a day, and it is so cute!

The Norwood Nest: December 2012
http://katienorwood.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 27, 2012. I was blessed years 11 ago to meet Kate Robertson (now Gavos) as a Pi Phi at Texas A&M. (Has it been that long, y'all? THANK YOU, Kate! She managed to get all these great pics on a day with 40 mph winds! If you've within walking, driving, or flying distance to Dallas, I highly recommend Kate as a photographer! Check her out on Facebook here. Or on her website. Hope you like the pics as much as I do. P.S. Doesn't Ava have the cutest dad ever? Posted by Katie Norwood. Take a fl...

The devil's always in the details. Monday, October 25, 2010. I usually try not to engage in agism. Sometimes, though, I am the victim and I feel I need to defend myself. A few commenters posted thoughts along the lines of "why don't we stop coddling these spoiled brats" and "I'm a baby boomer and life is hard, grow up kids.". I normally leave these alone, but the workday was almost over and I was feeling passionate. Here is an excerpt:. I feel guilty even existing.". We have many more years to live, and ...

PragmaticIdealists: A New Year
http://pragid.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-new-year.html
The devil's always in the details. Sunday, January 26, 2014. Inspired by the very impressive Katie at Marriage Confessions. I'm making a month-by-month goal sheet of increasing my happiness by way of well being. I will try to implement the changes from January through March in the designated month and keep them the whole year. Limit sweets to 3 sweet desserts a week. If craving sweets, eat fruit on other days. Go to the gym at least 3 times per week- 30 minutes of cardio minimum, yoga counts. Make a list...

The devil's always in the details. Friday, July 22, 2011. In 2004, at the tender age of 23, I set off from my childhood home in a U-Haul, with my earthly belongings and also with four of my mother's muffin tins, for some reason. The move was driven by two things: my conviction in the value of getting a masters degree, and a leap of faith in my boyfriend. Immediately after moving across town, we adopted a dog that we brought home to that new apartment and fretted over constantly. Is she okay? On Wednesday...
