Coffee and Kebabs: Top Cat, the most effectual...
http://coffeeandkebabs.blogspot.com/2011/01/top-cat-most-effectual.html
Wednesday, 19 January 2011. Top Cat, the most effectual. Wherever you go in Didim. It's hard to get away from dogs. Turkish people seem to love them, but unfortunately there is a major problem here with street dogs. They are everywhere, often choosing the middle of the road to lie down and have a snooze, creating traffic chaos. They generally look well fed, so they must make a pretty good living among the the bars and cafés of downtown Altinkum. Right out of your mind. Meanwhile, the electrician returned...
Coffee and Kebabs: When the eldery couple in the row in front asked for more sickbags, I knew we were in for a bumpy ride
http://coffeeandkebabs.blogspot.com/2011/01/when-eldery-couple-in-row-in-front.html
Friday, 14 January 2011. When the eldery couple in the row in front asked for more sickbags, I knew we were in for a bumpy ride. An alarm ringing at 4am isn't usually a great start to the day, but it would have to be an early start to catch the first of the three flights that day that marked the start of our big adventure. There are plenty of direct fights to Bodrum. Other than being busy with the inevitable business travellers, the BA flight to Heathrow was otherwise uneventful. There was a bit of h...
Coffee and Kebabs: Last Few Days in Manchester
http://coffeeandkebabs.blogspot.com/2011/01/last-few-days-in-manchester.html
Friday, 7 January 2011. Last Few Days in Manchester. Only 4 more days in Manchester before we fly out for our ten month holiday(! Plenty to do before we go - packing obviously, though we're not actually taking a huge amount of clothes. We've downsized our clothes significantly as part of the 100 Item Challenge. But we have predominantly UK clothes (woolly jumpers and boots etc). Rather than buying clothes in the UK, the theory is that we'll be able to buy clothes more cheaply in Turkey. What is a weekend?
Coffee and Kebabs: A Packed Couple of Days
http://coffeeandkebabs.blogspot.com/2011/01/packed-couple-of-days.html
Wednesday, 5 January 2011. A Packed Couple of Days. We're just back from a hectic couple of days in London. We were combining business with pleasure, as it's my birthday at the weekend and I was treated to a night out at the theatre seeing Priscilla The Musical. Which was wonderful. We also took the opportunity to meet up with old friends before heading off for ten months in Turkey. If all goes according to plan then we'll be doing quite a bit of traveling over the next year. Coffee and Kebabs: Working like Scottish housewives on New Years Eve
http://coffeeandkebabs.blogspot.com/2011/01/working-like-scottish-housewives-on-new.html
Sunday, 16 January 2011. Working like Scottish housewives on New Years Eve. We woke up at 10am, Turkish time, which meant that we'd had 10 hours sleep on top of the 5 hour “power nap” of the previous afternoon. We must have needed it, that's all I can say. This morning we were anticipating the arrival of Mr Internet and the cleaning collective, but first we had a continental breakfast (bread and cheese, a banana, and a cup of tea). Was soon hauled back onto the roof. And with a great fanfare absolutely n...

Coffee & Kahlua
Thursday, September 22, 2016. I'm going to share a holiday staple from my house to yours today. I've been baking these for a few years now and my family definitely expects these to be around the house come Autumn. They are super easy to make, Delicious, Light and Airy, and you can use so many different flavor combinations. This recipe usually makes 2 batches depending on size. 1 Tsp Almond Emulsion. 1 Tsp Cream of Tartar. 3/4 cup sugar ( I tend to use less because I like mine less sweet). I tried this ov...
Coffee & Karma
Wednesday, January 26, 2011. My body tells me one thing, I tell it to GTH . . . I'm feeling tired. I'm feeling run down. Too bad. To hell with that, I remain very optimistic. I'm on the treadmill almost everyday and jogging up and down the hydroline trail on the way to and from work. It makes me feel great, but afterwards I feel a dull ache in my chest and am tired afterwards. Once this tumor/abscess is gone, I'm going to feel like supergirl. Friday, January 14, 2011. Then karma kicks me in the arse.
Coffee and Kebabs
Tuesday, 25 January 2011. It was a dark and stormy night. We've almost started to get used to the thunderstorm. I use the singular quite deliberately, as it does feel as if we've been having the same storm continuously since Saturday. Last night was particularly impressive. It was pretty spectacular,. And traffic signals are powered separately, in a Turkish powercut everything goes off. I can only imagine the traffic chaos that this must cause. Now here's a funny thing. Here it's not rigorously enforced&...

Coffee + Kimbap | Overcaffienated Travels
Pottery Painting in Daegu. August 7, 2016. August 7, 2016. It’s certainly been a long time! Sorry for the silence. We’ve had English summer camps to prepare for and execute, along with my upcoming travels next week to prepare for. It’s a difficult thing to balance-dreams and the present. Anyway, back to the purpose of this post! Back in October, with the co teacher who introduced me to the studio. The owner sells her own creations at the studio along with unglazed pottery for customers to paint. The ...
