Coffee beans come from 2 coffee plants called Arabica and Robusta. These plants grow best in an area know as the Bean Belt – the band around the earth in between the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer. The top ten coffee producing countries are (1997/1998 according to the National Coffee Association of the United States): Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, Ethiopia, India, Guatemala, Cote d’Ivore and Uganda. Coffees from the Asian Pacific are often used to add more richness and body to the blend.
