Mrs Coffman' s class: Early Education Reading
http://coffmansclassroom.blogspot.com/2008/03/early-education-reading.html
Tuesday, March 25, 2008. If not, what do you think about prekindergarteners, kindergarteners, or first graders using technology? Oh those teachable moments you gotta love them! I love the idea that a child asks a question and you were able to answer it and SHOW them pictures. I find myself sometimes searching for the perfect book to answer questions. I feel the internet is a great resource to be on your toes with as a teacher. What a great feeling! March 25, 2008 at 6:19 PM. March 30, 2008 at 8:09 PM.
Mrs Coffman' s class: Webkinz
http://coffmansclassroom.blogspot.com/2008/03/webkinz.html
Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Silly question, but has anyone used webkinz in their classroom? I am doing a unit on the rainforest this month and the children have many webkinz animals that relate to the rainforest. Does anyone know if there is any academic value to having webkinz on the computer during the childrens center time? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mrs Coffman' s class. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Tuesday, February 19, 2008. A blog is not just writing. So they are reading and then responding to each other and reading each others posts and comments. I believe however, that sometimes students need to read a book at their level for pleasure and not always have to think, respond, and talk about their books. Should this pleasure reading just be done at home? Would you allow your students to read blogs as their silent reading instead of a paper book? Friday, February 15, 2008.

The author mentions that webquests allow children to participate in shared experiences with other peers. I agree. This is a wonderful opportunity to pair students together to work collaborativly. The students could all have different roles and bring their own creativity to the assignments. What are your experiences with webquests? February 10, 2008 at 5:25 PM. February 12, 2008 at 12:48 PM.

Thursday, February 21, 2008. Do you plan on using wikis in your classroom? What are you thoughts on wikis? I created a wiki just to see how it worked and plan to add to it in the future. I like that you are able to add students work and post it on the page. The interactive word wall is a great tool especiialy for students in the primary grades. The wiki can be compared to a portfolio for children and their work. I am torn betwenn the two. Sunday, April 6, 2008. Wiki Process Day 1. So day one with the wiki in grade one is over! Others wrote a part of their story. I was able to see who has had experience with typing and who has not.
