Introduction

Lower Ness INNPS Project. How you can help. Http:/ www.scottishaspen.org.uk/. The demand for local-origin Aspen for planting far outstrips the supply. This is largely because in Scotland Aspen rarely flowers and sets seed. A number of nurseries grow Aspen plants from root suckers, but this method is laborious, and plants are consequently expensive. Efforts are being made to increase production by a variety of methods, including experimental seed orchards. You are here:  .

Tree nurseries

http://www.coillealba.org.uk/index.php/aspen/tree-nurseries

Lower Ness INNPS Project. How you can help. One of the main objectives of the Aspen 2020 Project is to increase the area of Aspen woodland in Scotland. This will have benefits for biodiversity, landscape and rural economies. Some of this increase will be achieved by expanding existing Aspen stands by natural regeneration, but we also need to plant new stands of Aspen. Our work on aspen propagation is undertaken in collaboration with two partners:. You are here:  .

Helping woodland owners

http://www.coillealba.org.uk/index.php/aspen/helping-woodland-owners

Lower Ness INNPS Project. How you can help. It has been estimated that there are around 500 hectares of Aspen woodland in Scotland. Few of these woodlands are currently being actively managed. However, under sympathetic management, they could deliver many benefits. The Project will also encourage land-holders to establish new Aspen stands. In core Aspen areas, new plantings will be sited to enhance functional connectivity between stands, and help develop networks of Aspen habitat. You are here:  .

Results of our work. Missing species and rewilding. Become a Friend of Dundreggan. Start a grove of trees. Find an existing grove. At Trees for Life we aim to grow as many of our own trees as possible. The reason for this is so that the trees that we plant have come from locally-collected seed, and are of the same genetic stock as the existing trees.
