Evaporating side: 620 psig. Mechanical subcooling involves cooling the liquid refrigerant of a low temperature system by evaporating the refrigerant of a high temperature system. Packless chillers function well as subcoolers of either R-12. R-22 or R-502, and yield a low pressure drop for the subcooled liquid.
