epiphany – Ordinary World
https://coldtoast.live/tag/epiphany
September 8, 2013. Patrick Süskind – The Pigeon. Who hasn’t heard, spoken, or believed the big blanket, “People never change.” For it’s true, isn’t it? So delightful is this emotional payoff that its promise can sustain me through the thicket of thousands of words. Imagine my satisfaction at hitting pay dirt within a little over one hundred small and widely spaced pages. Such is. A 1988 novella by German writer Patrick Süskind, his first effort after the success of his 1985 debut,. Mr Summer’s Story.

woodcarving – Ordinary World

January 19, 2014. David Esterly – The Lost Carving. Among the many treasures to be found at Hampton Court are the intricate limewood carvings of Grinling Gibbons. Gibbons was a 17th century artist who occupied an almost singular niche until the Hampton Court disaster and the subsequent hiring of an American wood carver, David Esterly, to replicate a large Gibbons panel destroyed in the fire. I was retreating like a mollusk deep into its whorled shell. I grew tired even of beauty, almost. It was b...Thus ...

June 7, 2015. Lifestyle Hub, Trophy City. Last week when I reached to pull Gary Shteyngart’s. Super Sad True Love Story. From the squeezed edge of my crowded bookshelf, I was in search of something fun after weeks of lackluster reading. Since the winter’s highlight that was. It’s been downhill. I was in the mood for some fruition of. Super Sad True Love Story. Super Sad True Love Story. Super Sad True Love Story. As something other than a human love story, rather a love letter to the City. Whimsy – Ordinary World

October 9, 2016. There is no title, only the sound of my laughter. For many reasons, it has taken me almost a month to read Beryl Markham’s. West With the Night. Before sending it on to a friend or the resale shop, there are a few paragraphs so rich that I’m saving them here for a good laugh on those days when nothing works. I hope you enjoy this, too. And these were the undoing of Bombafu. Dogs were simple things, he saw, controlled by a single sound. A man would stand in the doorway of the hous...Was t...

Debriefing | The Thriller in a Manila

The Thriller in a Manila. When I saw the envelope lying on my doorstep, I knew that nothing in my life was ever going to be the same again. Maybe you once read something your eyes wished you’d never seen. Maybe the only way for you to sleep at night, ever again. Is to share your pain. Know of an unpardonable crime, and no-one else in the airport lounge can help, maybe you can call…. Let him handle it, he’s the professional. Ps: You can email me at nohspaces. Don't be offended if no-one answers -. File 3:...

Ordinary World | Tassels and Trims
December 3, 2014. I moved here in 1987 and learned somehow that there was a synagogue in town. I would drive by and imagine myself in attendance, sitting in the back to listen and learn. It seemed an impossibility as I didn’t know any members and knew nothing at all about conversion. This. But could not name it. From someone who could not find God into someone learning to look for HaShem in everything, is a great and continuing joy. No cake ever tasted sweeter. Posted in Just about me. January 19, 2014.

Cold Toes on chronic illness
Thursday, 19 May 2011. Pretty simple, huh? May be showing pretty pictures of bacteria but they display OLD-STYLE microbiology when we know at a molecular level now that these matters are far more complex than pinpointing the great big "bruisers" of microbes like E coli. Study "provokes reexamination of the traditional view of killing strategies against bacteria" and contains some far more challenging actual shots of bacteria. And this paper. On nanobacteria and others. Posted by HC Hunter. This makes sen...
