Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement). Sunday, January 12, 2014. THIS DRAWN and QUARTERED MOON by klipschutz. This Drawn & Quartered Moon. Anvil Press, Vancouver, B.C., 2013). As a reader/poet I feel a certain lack in my own education. Confession: I’ve not read deeply the 20. I mean, holy shit, with all the damned earnest, serious writing out there you would think comedy is dead. Maybe it is, but don’t tell klipschutz because he is writing the good stuff. Sort of attitude by exclaiming “Oh! The bo...

Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement). Sunday, January 12, 2014. ARK by RONALD JOHNSON. Flood Editions, 2013). I had not heard of Ronald Johnson until a professor lent me this book on a whim. The white cover with black endpaper looks sleek. The title, ARK. In the modernist vein, Johnson wrote ARK. Starts at the intergalactic eye, as one suspended in awe of the infinite universe. Here the poet’s gaze shares root with the astronomer (7):. Body of earth rays exit the sun. Along the reversal of one.

Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement). Sunday, January 12, 2014. GREY BERET by JIM KNOWLES. Heady and breezy at the same time Jim Knowles constructs his poems not only out of the basic raw materials of grammar but the knowing sweat of working a day job. Poetry is made by and through the exigencies of early 21. Century life as it is lived in the eastern part of the U.S. For example, ask Knowles about his life and Knowles will reply with this poem. I can’t complain. What I mean is. . . Yes, its true...

Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement). Sunday, January 12, 2014. SISTER, BLOOD AND BONE by PAULA CARY. Sister, Blood and Bone. Blood Pudding Press, Ohio, 2013). Oh I really really like Paula Cary’s chap, Sister, Blood and Bone. Its poems contain the paradox of garnets—stones for, say, jewelry but ever evoking blood. Jewels that should be pretty but end up with other significances besides decorativeness. Or the last stanza of “Sacrificial Breakfast”:. The platter of pig meat, wrinkled and red.

Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement): LIKE A SEA by SAMUEL AMADON
http://galatearesurrection21.blogspot.com/2014/01/like-sea-by-samuel-amadon.html
Galatea Resurrects #21 (A Poetry Engagement). Sunday, January 12, 2014. LIKE A SEA by SAMUEL AMADON. University of Iowa Press, Iowa City, IA, 2010). The question is rhetorical), Amadon’s rhythmic invention moves this perception of strangeness away from things and toward perception of things as a kind of “thing” itself. That is, the great subject of the book is perception, which we read as language derived from the observation. Of things but later operates as a force to make things (and language) manifest.

The collage poet
These are original poems, but I didn't write them. I just cut words out of magazines, newspapers, junk mail, and save them. Then I start arranging them on a page until I sumble upone something I like. Amazingly there are themes and threads that come from my subconsious mind while I'm cutting out words. I wish I had a better pair of scissors. http:/ chickollage.blogspot.com/2007/04/365-collage-poetry-challenge-day-6.html. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. I'll Change The Way I Age.
