This is an account of my birding trips in the valley plus holidays birding abroad. Thursday, 16 April 2015. Ashmere Spring outing with Croxley Green Flyfishers. Well its Spring again and we were off to Ashmere fly fishing,first up lunch by the Thames at Walton. In the hot sunshine,then late afternoon we headed to the fisherie where we tackled up. This is an account of my birding trips in the valley plus holidays birding abroad. Thursday, 9 January 2014. Maderia for the New Year. Well without sounding to full of myself ,it was territory previously visited but a week away from. The wet winter was not to be sneezed at. So we flew in to Funchal on Saturday 28th December our hotel was Porto Bay and we had a quiet. Day ,the following morning we was off for a drive first to Ponta da Pargo. Little Egret graced the harbour mouth. Which was quite a surprise.

Walked to Stockers this morning Fieldfares,Redwings and Skylarks were visible at Woodoaks farm. Along with six Herring gulls in various plumages. Met Kay Marriot at Stockers West where a male Goosander was present,on to the view point. Where a number of Goldeneye were displaying. On the 6th of May it was blowing a gale as we negotiated the M25 and M3 towards Reading,some of us never even got here down to traffic and work,I was with my neighbour Richard Gilmore and an old work colleague Peter Halward. Started at Stockers house noting a flock of Siskin buzzed by Sparrowhawk then walked canal side noting gulls and immature male goldeneye, then Andy Longfellow in to old Esox. The pike weighed about 9lb caught on dead bait. Thursday, 6 July 2017. Manuel Antonio final morning and leaving for San Jose. In a stream near the beach a single White Ibis showed well.
