Colon Cancer Chick: Because I IrinoteCAN!
http://www.coloncancerchick.com/2015/01/because-i-irinotecan.html
I started off the new year and my brand new deductible by maxing it out with a PET scan. The results were as expected. Not that I would ever assume anything with cancer, but given my clear response to chemo and my constant state of being on chemo, I might be assuming just a tiny bit. I always wonder when I'm going to start to "feel" its presence. I know he wants me back on my dear friend, Irinotecan, as soon as possible. And you know I can't WAIT for that. I just go about it the hard way. In the past, I'...
Colon Cancer Chick: Xombie Hands
http://www.coloncancerchick.com/2015/02/xombie-hands.html
I came across a message board where a fellow Xeloda swallower said she actually lost her fingerprints due to the continual shedding of large chucks of skin from her fingers. I'd believe it. Especially now that I'm on the other side of what has been a very long and uncomfortable week. Curiosity killed this cat, and I finally had to know what exactly was causing my hands and feet to get a staring roll on The Walking Dead. I assumed it was the excessive killing off of healthy skin cells, since chemo jus...
Colon Cancer Chick: The Non-Foodie's Guide to Foods that Fuel: Smoothies
http://www.coloncancerchick.com/2014/11/the-non-foodies-guide-to-foods-that.html
The Non-Foodie's Guide to Foods that Fuel: Smoothies. Way back in the. Day, a group of amazing friends came together and surprised my soon-to-be-once-again-nutritionally-deprived-because-of-chemo-body with a Vitamix. If you're not sure what that is, you're probably like me and drink your margaritas on the rocks. And what's the point of smoothies? When I was on that full dose of chemo, I made a point to have a smoothie on the night before treatment for several reasons:. That I have found to be far more ef...
Colon Cancer Chick: The Mysterious Case of the Swollen Leg
http://www.coloncancerchick.com/2015/04/the-mysterious-case-of-swollen-leg.html
The Mysterious Case of the Swollen Leg. I'll solve this one faster than Sherlock Holmes for you. It's just one of those things that can happen when they remove lymph nodes from your body, which they did 3 1/2 years ago. It makes sense, given that the tumor and those fateful lymph nodes were in my lower left pelvis, and now my left leg is swollen past the point of fitting into every pair of jeans I own. I officially have my first surgical complication. Toe to thigh layers. Padding. Layers.
Colon Cancer Chick: But I Can Deal with It
http://www.coloncancerchick.com/2015/01/but-i-can-deal-with-it.html
But I Can Deal with It. Sure, it feels like I'm walking on broken glass or a Lego minefield with my tender little foot pads. And it's days like these that I'm grateful for cold weather, Uggs and those fuzzy socks they sell for $1 in the Target bins. The more padding the better. But I can deal with it. And I'm feeling major flashbacks to my first 12 rounds of chemo with Oxaliplatin, as I have given up being able to open the simplest wrapper, a package, zip up my pants, or button a button.

http://thestavinohafamily.blogspot.com/2015/08/35-years-old-ella.html
CLICK HERE FOR BLOGGER TEMPLATES. My lazy "baby books". Saturday, August 15, 2015. 35 years old - Ella. Ella is 3 1/2 years old. She is about 30 pounds. She is wearing 3T shirts, but she has some long legs! Luckily, it's shorts season, since her 3T pants aren't long enough. I had to buy some leggings for her and had to get 4T. She is in about a size 8.5-9 shoe. She knows the months of the year. And all of the polos Zachary had were too big for her, so I had to get some smaller things for her. I have been...

What it looks like when someone finds the picture button on your phone and you are telling them "no, give it back". Imagine 10 of these in a row. I go to my work's national Tax Leadership Conference every year. This year, it was in Dallas. It's fun to reconnect with a few friends that work in different offices! This is my life.

CLICK HERE FOR BLOGGER TEMPLATES. My lazy "baby books". Friday, March 6, 2015. I told you in my last post. That I was going to explain a little bit more about this picture:. So they couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong. But they gave me a lovely knee brace, and recommended that I see an ortho (duh! After a visit with the ortho and an MRI, it was determined that I completely snapped my ACL. Huh? Who knew a Princess and Superhero party could be so dangerous! With breaking my foot. http://thestavinohafamily.blogspot.com/2015/08/fun-run.html
CLICK HERE FOR BLOGGER TEMPLATES. My lazy "baby books". Monday, August 10, 2015. Zachary ran in a Fun Run to raise money for his school. Here was his "fundraising smile". You could donate an amount per lap (max 36 laps) or a flat amount. . He LOVES to run, so this fun run was perfect for him. The kids were told when they should run, skip, jump, etc. during different laps to give it a little more variety. He is on the very inside, furthest from the camera - jumping/stomping). I think he had over $600?

Let's Get Clinical, Baby. There’s always an ongoing conversation in the cancer world amongst researchers, physicians, and medical professionals about clinical trials and how to engage more patients and get them to sign on the dotted line. As it stands, less than 5% of cancer patients are currently enrolled in a clinical trail. I think part of it. I’m the girl that walks into my oncologist’s office with a spreadsheet of trials. I found on trialfinder.fightcrc.org. I think part of it. I think part of it.
