Dai's Blog: ARCHIVED: Future project: PETER
http://davidjeffcoate.blogspot.com/2011/08/future-project-peter.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. ARCHIVED: Future project: PETER. This is something I’ve started working on, a feature film based on Stravinsky’s Petrushka. Probably not going to get round to making it until 2013 but here’s some of the research sketchbook I’ve been putting together. The story takes place in a jazz club so I went straight to my all time favorite photographer, the late great Herman Leonard. His photos of jazz musicians and jazz clubs practically defined how people imagine jazz visually.

Dai's Blog: ARCHIVED: Getting Geeky With My Bolex:
http://davidjeffcoate.blogspot.com/2013/09/archived-getting-geeky-with-my-bolex.html
Friday, September 13, 2013. ARCHIVED: Getting Geeky With My Bolex:. I was going to put this in the blog section but I figured a vintage super 8mm camera has to be pretty geeky, right? Especially considering I just reviewed the film Super 8, it ties in nicely as I think this is the same make of camera they use in the film. It's a Bolex 680 with a macro zoom. A friend gave this to me and I've been dying to do some shooting with it for months! The big thing I have to sort out is getting the cartridges, find...

Sunday, June 16, 2013. ARCHIVED: Thinking out loud: Comic Movies. You've probably already noticed the internet beginning to swell with thoughts and opinions about Man of Steel. I meanwhile will not be seeing Man of Steel, in fact I think I'm going to give comic book adaptations a miss for the foreseeable future. It was the same with Iron Man 3. I was excited to see it, thought it was well made, but didn't really enjoy it. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. I love cinema, one day I hope to make films for ...

Friday, September 13, 2013. ARCHIVED: Review: Least I could Do. Starting from today I'll be posting short weekly articles looking at online comics, some I'm a regular reader of others I'm totally new to. To kick things off I'll be looking at. Least I Could Do. By Ryan Sohmer and. Lar deSouza. I have to confess bias on this one, I've been reading this comic since it come out in 2003 and it's on my top five all time greatest comics list. DeSouza's art is playful, subtle and compliments the writing perfectl...

Wednesday, April 02, 2014. QUARTERLY REPORT: My year so far. So the first three months of 2014 have past and I wanted to write an update about some of the challenges I set myself for this year and how I’m progressing with them as well as the projects I’m working on. The challenges I set myself included:. Improving writing discipline/less procrastination. Being outside more often. This turned out to be a more complex challenge than my original plan of “sitting the gosh darn down and writing! In Word docs&...

Thursday, September 26, 2013. REVIEW: Marvel’s Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. Marvel’s Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D has to be the most anticipated piece of television at the moment, second only to Breaking Bad. I’ll be honest, it was not what I was expecting, but I think it’s going to be awesome! Overall I enjoyed the first episode and while it didn’t knock my socks off I felt it was a strong foundation for future episodes to build on. What did you think of Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D? http://davidjeffcoate.blogspot.com/2013/09/archived-review-super-8.html
Friday, September 13, 2013. ARCHIVED: Review: Super 8. Through a masterful recreation of 1979 we meet Joey Lamb, (played by Joel Courtney) who along with his friends are making a super 8 zombie movie when a train derails, causing the escape of an alien into their small tow. The only negatives I found were at the films end. While the films conclusion is in no way terrible, it does leave you asking, "is that it? I also felt that the improved relationship between Chandler and Courtneys characters at the end...
