Comically Enough

Monday, October 17, 2011. Ye Olde Pet Peeves. It's not like I was hoping for an apology from Skipping Out. Another comic that never changes is Questionable Content. Actually, there was a rather ambitious and successful visual thing. Well Done, Sinfest! Sinfest has always been awesome, but it totally blew me away with this feminist comic. Patriarchy - it's everywhere. Funny, nerdy, non-preachy, and so very true. A . Moments you might want to share with the world: finding a dry wish fountain. Oh yeah, ever...

Comically Enough: October 2010

http://comicallyenough.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. A Comic I Love. I discovered this comic. Just now, via my Toby, and I must say I love it. In fact, I like almost all strips I've seen, and thus I have nothing interesting to say. Lovely color palette (unusually periwinkle too! Original and funny ideas. The world view seems benevolent, slightly strange and hilarious. I love comics like this. This is what I aspire to. Dr Grover is in every hospital. Stop thinking about dicks. The inspector was lonely. Constantly played for jokes.

Comically Enough: Slices of Life and Other Issues o' the Week

http://comicallyenough.blogspot.com/2011/06/slices-of-life-and-other-issues-o-week.html

Thursday, June 9, 2011. Slices of Life and Other Issues o' the Week. This week in Questionable Content: Marten realizes he must be. a townie. I'm not sure why that matters, and I came to ponder on how often QC actually does strips where Marten says he's not something and the others say he sure is. If Jacques wanted to do something fun and new, why not go meta? The kids love meta these days. Watch an episode of Community. Kochalka seems to have this childlike innocence about genitalia, poop, and various o...

Comically Enough: March 2011

Thursday, March 31, 2011. Therapy with the Vampire: A Biased Review. Disclaimer: I fucking adore Robyn E. Kenealy, both as a friend and an author. I will now attempt to write about her new comic calmly and without over-gushing. I may not succeed, but I will at least describe in detail WHY I'm gushing. Robyn E. Kenealy excels at writing fan fiction, although the term hardly does her work justice. Her Roddy McDowall fandom inspired Roddy's Film Companion. Which I attempted to review earlier. Life and human...

Comically Enough: June 2011

http://comicallyenough.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 10, 2011. Drive-By Notes, Part 4. I'm still not totally sure what sprites are, but I'm really liking this personality test. At Roby's Sprites. Both the questions (complete with typos) and the answers are pretty accurate. So let's see what the Webcomics List has to offer, haven't done these in a while. Shocks me with the completely black silhouette characters. Why is it shocking? It looks like a simple enough pun strip, but the characters look somehow scary, like they're meant to represent de...

Finding My Value: Et Tu, George Takei?

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012/07/et-tu-george-takei.html

Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Et Tu, George Takei? But today I see that he's reblogged someone's idiotic post. It's a disaster when your country has an obesity epidemic and a skinny jeans fad.". Takei adds insult to injury by adding,. And not everyone should wear skinny jeans, I might add.". Yeah, we got it, fatties look bad in skinny jeans. What a disappointment. For those who think it's a harmless joke, consider what it's really saying. Let's de-wittify this statement a bit:. If you're openly gay, you're p...

Finding My Value: December 2012

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 4, 2012. What Are My Values? I'd like to get back to political posting/stuff about TV shows and whatnot that I've written before, but it seems right now I'm only thinking of myself. But maybe that's what I should be thinking of before I can really tackle political stuff without anger. My therapist told me to think of eating from my OWN values, not from what the doctor says, because doctors only think of the health hazards. It makes me think, but I'm not sure what my values really are.

Finding My Value: Comments Policy

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2011/01/comments-policy.html

Tuesday, January 18, 2011. All comments are screened. This serves several purposes:. No spam gets in. I notice and read every comment as they come. No trolls get through. It's nothing personal, and I can't pre-approve any user's comments. In the days of Fatly Yours, I deleted maybe 5 % of all comments. I live in Finland, so take that into account; you may have to wait up to 12 hours to see your comment up here. If it takes longer, it may be a Blogger glitch. Feel free to re-post your comment. Finding My Value: July 2011

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 19, 2011. I have started a Tumblr called Micro Fatgressions. The idea comes from migro aggressions, which also have a Tumblr dedicated to them. A migro aggression is a small, annoying comment, often said in the guise of a joke. It's something that you can't really help, but that stays under your skin. If you should react, you'll be told "Lighten up" or "You're so sensitive". Do you get comments about your size? Don't hesitate to submit! Links to this post. Monday, July 18, 2011. Translation...

Finding My Value: To Be Honest...

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012/05/to-be-honest.html

Tuesday, May 8, 2012. I'm not so sure I'm fine. I just panic-exercycled because I've been eating so much. I'm not sure if it's the antihistamine I've been taking, but I eat all the time lately. My panic thought is always the same: Toby loves me even if I get bigger, and I can buy new clothes and I can adjust to being bigger but WHAT WILL MY MOTHER THINK? I CAN'T SHOW MYSELF TO HER LIKE THIS. I wish I had like a year when I don't see my mother* and can just be as big as I am, and screw what everyone thinks.

Finding My Value: I'm Actually Getting Help...

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012/11/im-actually-getting-help.html

Monday, November 26, 2012. I'm Actually Getting Help. It all started when I saw my new work health nurse, and she actually listened to me and took me seriously. We talked about everything else first. I was prepared for a huge anti-fat lecture, but she just asked me, with obvious compassion(! You've circled 'obesity' here? The private doctors in Finland have zero queue and you can get in almost anytime. Not so with the tax-funded ones, sadly. I had to wait two weeks when I was suicidal.). Also, thank you ...

Finding My Value: Ups and Downs

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012/05/ups-and-downs.html

Monday, May 28, 2012. Osku had a mole, of all things - I was certain it was a tumor and I only hoped it was benign. The days after that went by in an almost blissful state. I was just super relaxed. Last Thursday, I went shopping for a new dress with my friend, who is also fat. We found so many possible ones. Maybe there are more sizes available nowadays? Maybe it would have been OK to have a fourth tortilla? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Other Active Blogs By Me.

Finding My Value: Question: Fat Acceptance / Eating Disorders

http://findingmyvalue.blogspot.com/2012/05/question-fat-acceptance-eating.html

Monday, May 14, 2012. Question: Fat Acceptance / Eating Disorders. I'm just throwing this out there. This is an idea that rose out of reading on Binge Eating Disorder (which I might in fact have, based on the symptoms) and my anxiety at the thought that I have it. If I do have Binge Eating Disorder, and this is why I'm fat, does this mean my body is "sick" this way? I don't mean health risks, I mean is my body the "wrong" way, "unnatural", and something I wouldn't have if I weren't sick? Could you get a ...
