Leah at Lunch: Parlor 1255. I am totally charmed by this new lunch spot, decked out in vintage decor and serving jazzed up classics like grilled cheese and crab rolls. Said grilled cheese. The second time I tried to balance it out by splitting the sandwich with a coworker and supplementing with soup. So shortsighted. The. 4) was fine, but didn’t make up for how badly I wanted the second half of that sandwich. Another star is the crab roll. Or cucumber mint lemonade.

I really want to love the Lower Haight. It’s grungy but hip, known for lively bars and dotted with boutiques and vintage stores. But it lacks the wealth of great restaurants that my favorite neighborhoods have. Nearby NOPA and Divisadero often prove more tempting. But the Lower Haight does boast a few all-stars like Ragazza, Memphis Minnie’s, Maven. And the seemingly under-the-radar Uva Enoteca. Ppealing selection of meats, cheeses, and inspired salads, and a thoughtful selection of pizzas and entrees.
