art as politics | Commentary on Arts and Culture

Commentary on Arts and Culture. August 7, 2008 at 10:35 am. Beijing Olympic Art - Reuters. 8216;s recent article. On art in Beijing both commissioned and present for the Olympic Games supports my idea of just how political art can be. Art can be used by government bodies to exert power – in this instance, according to. Does give an example in Beijing of the Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art who are currently showing a vagina-like installation piece by Chinese artist Yin Xiuzhen. They are attempting ...

Commentary on Arts and Culture. August 11, 2008 at 2:46 pm. I am shocked and appalled by the recent laws the Victorian government has passed. It is ridiculous that a person can end up with an on-the-spot fine of $550 just for possessing a spray paint can or be searched without a warrant for spray paint cans if that person is on or near public transport. Which ran August 1-10 attracted international artists from Germany, Iran and the United States. The 2007 Festival attracted more than 4,000 visitors.

Commentary on Arts and Culture. Archive for August, 2008. Even the commentary written about the speech was similar to a theatre review. Take the article. In Salon.com by Rebecca Traister: she refers to Obama’s dress as “a peacock green frock that was surely the hottest dress ever seen on a convention floor” the supporting characters (her mother and brother, two daughters, and Senator Obama); the plot and how each act was played out; and the audience reaction. Watch a clip of her speech on You Tube:.

Commentary on Arts and Culture. September 7, 2008 at 9:56 am. It seems words are becoming more important nowadays, when people are less trusting (for good reason – see my last post regarding web 2.0 problems for an example) and exploitation of our feeling and emotions is acceptable if put in context of a cause (also see my previous post regarding the theatricality of the speeches in the American election campaign). I just recently read an article. I suppose the key part of this argument comes down to the...

Commentary on Arts and Culture. September 2, 2008 at 2:20 pm. First, I’d just like to vent my outrage. It will be a sad day if a Christian evangelist, member of the National Rifle Association, pro-lifer, anti same sex marriage, believer in creationism theory over evolution (and thinks creationism should be taught in every school) woman becomes Vice President of the world’s (perhaps floundering, but that’s beside the point) super power! On The New Statesman if you’d like more details). Will look forward t...

Huxley’s 3rd Alternative. A new perspective on social questions, with new solutions. What We Stand For. We’ve decided to spell out, in 22 points, where ‘Huxley’s Third Alternative’ stands on a number of underlying social questions (these are the premises that we will base our analysis, and our policy solutions, on):. Three forces of production:. Income from the ownership of the three forces of production:. Co-existence of mutual aid and conflict in human nature:. That they take is impacted by social, pol...
Our Philosophy | Huxley's 3rd Alternative

Huxley’s 3rd Alternative. A new perspective on social questions, with new solutions. Think back to the last time that you had to make a choice about something. Two obvious choices that you could make would have rapidly become apparent to you. But, if you stood back for a minute, it is likely that you may have noticed that there was a third alternative that you could chose. And, truth be told, that third alternative probably made a lot of sense. What is Huxley’s Third Alternative? 8221; where Huxley wrote:.

Commentary of a mind
Commentary of a mind. April 14, 2015. 8220;He noticed a fleeting thought about cutting his own throat in his head. It made him feel an instant cold and comforting current throughout his body. And he knew, it was here again.”. April 5, 2015. April 10, 2015. I think it does make more sense. Because an observer sees things for what they are. Literal, simple and plain. And doesn’t apply his sense of unified subjective projections onto things and events. February 22, 2015. February 22, 2015. Sometimes I feel ...
