Stimulating Science Simulations: How Does Our Garden Grow - Day 1
http://stimulatingsciencesimulations.blogspot.com/2015/04/how-does-our-garden-grow-day-1.html
Saturday, April 25, 2015. How Does Our Garden Grow - Day 1. The 3rd grade AIG students have just begun a math/science integrated unit thematically centered around gardening. Our first activity was to determine the perimeter and area of each raised bed in the garden. We measured the length and width on the outside of the beds to find perimeter and measured the inside edges to find area. Posted by Heather Kaiser. Labels: 3.L.2. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Stimulating Science Simulations: Summer '14 Camp Digest - Day 2
http://stimulatingsciencesimulations.blogspot.com/2014/07/summer-14-camp-digest-day-2.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Summer '14 Camp Digest - Day 2. Today students partnered up to work on communication and engineering design skills during a challenge that required one student to give verbal directions to the other in order to replicate a model made from K'Nex. The partners really rose to this challenge and by the end they were asking each other questions for clarification and being very specific in their directions which resulted in successful rebuilds. The morning goes by so quickly!

Thursday, October 30, 2014. Research, Writing, and Engineering. The 4th grade students were asked to choose a structure and conduct research about it. They wrote about their selected structure and were grouped together based on their selections. Then began the fun. Replicating the structure together. I wish I had thought of this but the credit goes to classroom teachers at New Century International Elementary. Check out the final products. Posted by Heather Kaiser. Saturday, October 25, 2014. That is what a sweet student lovingly brought to school to show their new teacher. Said gecko is also what escaped in my classroom and has yet to be found! My youngest started kindergarten this week and I. Lot My oldest started fourth grade and I. Lot They both LOVE their teachers, so I'm one happy Mama (despite my tears).

Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Just Can't Get Enough. Of Steve Spangler's Amazing and Captivating Science ideas and workshops. He has a true knack for engaging learners. When I heard he was performing (I mean presenting) a workshop in Greensboro, NC, of course I signed up. As usual, it was time well spent re-energizing and re-building my science repertoire. So if this is vampire slime, we shouldn't see the red, should we? Now that is exciting! If you want to know more, you'll need to check out his blog.

http://stimulatingsciencesimulations.blogspot.com/2014/07/summer-14-camp-digest-day-1.html
Monday, July 14, 2014. Summer '14 Camp Digest - Day 1. Today was the first day of summer camp for my students. This year I am offering 3 weeks for students who were in my homeroom. I limited it to that group because I am looping up to 5th grade with them and want to offer extra support as we prepare to tackle another year. Our 2nd challenge today was a red solo cup challenge. I found this idea on Pinterest. Stop by tomorrow to read about the next adventure. Posted by Heather Kaiser. You Can Book Me.
