Walden Cooks and Eats: Puerto Rican Day
http://waldenschoolcooksandeats.blogspot.com/2012/01/puerto-rican-day.html
Walden Cooks and Eats. Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Today Jasmine's grandma, Madeline Ramos, came to demonstrate Arroz con Habichuelas to the students. She also made some pollo (on the side to accomodate vegetarians). We learned about sofrito, and that, surprise! There's a Puerto Rican restaurant in Sandy, Utah. Olives, and carrots. The food was quite a hit with the students and teachers. Ramos talked about mofongo. Thank you for coming, Ms. Ramos! Labels: Arroz con Habichuelas. Food Writing We Love.

Walden Cooks and Eats: January 2012
http://waldenschoolcooksandeats.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Walden Cooks and Eats. Thursday, January 19, 2012. Today we got all fancy and had a cheese tasting party, focusing our taste buds on French cheeses. First the students looked at our cheese selection. The cheese monger at Harmon's helped us select an assortment and some bread, honey, nut, and fruit pairings to go with. Here the students are strategizing how to group the foods and lay them out attractively. Brie Fromage was controversial! Calm with a gush of bitterness. Sage making the honey look pretty.

The McRae Diaries: May 2011
http://themcraediaries.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 15, 2011. No need to call the fire department. Apparently some people (mom. Suz. Are getting annoyed that I made this big statement about updating my blog weekly, then I didn't. Also, my mom told me last night that she particularly hated the picture that was on my blog every time she checked it (the movie poster for Rabbit Hole). So, since I haven't been taking pictures a whole lot and have just been working, I found something that Betsy and I cracked up over last month. I guess the iphone.

Thursday, September 29, 2011. Charlie is 14 months old! We've made some big changes over the past couple of months, namely, we moved back to SF! It's so fun to see him interacting w/Berkeley and Finn all the time and I love watching Charlie grow close to our friends and realize that he has such a huge network of peeps that love him and care about him. Walking while holding on to something. Yelling (not in an obnoxious way, just to hear his own voice). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Betsy's Old Awesome Blog.

The Hungry Homemaker: Microwave Taco Chicken
http://hungryhomemaker.blogspot.com/2010/03/microwave-taco-chicken.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. This is another one of my mother-in-laws recipes. We love this, and it is so great to have on those cold winter days (or cold spring days). It is very easy to make, and you can feed a lot of people (or double it and feed even more people)! We call it microwave taco chicken, but it is not done in the microwave, and I have no idea why we call it this. Our kids love this too, mostly because of the tortilla chips and the cheese. This is also a great recipe to freeze! 189; kosher salt.
