In John chapter 10, Jesus says, I came that they my have life and have it abundantly. Yet most of us don’t believe this. We think real and abundant life is somewhere in the future. And the reason we think this is because most of our lives are framed and bound by scarcity. We think money is scare so we hoard it.

But note that Ephesians doesn’t use the language of transaction, of a God who needs blood. Ephesians is much more eloquent and poetic.
