Community Based Design and Other Stuff: STROADS
http://daniel-cbd.blogspot.com/2011/11/stroads.html
This is an interesting article written by Charles Marhon, the same person that walked through the Diverging Diamond Intersection I posted earlier. In this article he discusses the cost of the current transportation network and the cost of maintaining it long term. What is a STROADS? Read the article and find out. Anytime you are traveling between 30 and 50 miles per hour, you are basically in an area that is too slow to be efficient yet too fast to provide a framework for capturing a good rate of return.
