Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: September 2014
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. September 13, 2014. Did I mention that my aunt is returning? My aunt, 92, is returning to visit her baby sister. This is a tremendous and very generous gesture and I, honestly, really appreciate it. I am pleased and proud that she is able to travel and fly and care for my mother at this stage in my mother's life. I think my aunt is staying 12 days, but I'm not sure. We'll see. I'll let you know. I'll keep you posted. September 3, 2014.

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: Good to know:
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014/12/good-to-know.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. December 5, 2014. After a person dies at home, you call the primary care doctor to inform her/him. Then you call Hospice, to alert the Hospice doctor and the Hospice team. Then, daily, you answer many emails and calls from people that knew the deceased (even if you. Don’t) and you are polite and comforting and you describe the end in as much or little detail as you see fits the person calling. You may call your spiritual care counselor ...

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: July 2014
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. July 31, 2014. I meant to post this article months ago when I was still trying to figure out what was going with my mother's mental health. While this post is out of sequence in the saga of my mother’s recent health, I found this information very interesting and thought I would pass it on. The term RUMINATION was new to me although I now realize that my mother has been ruminating for. 30 years, maybe longer. Rumination is similar to.

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: April 2012

Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. April 15, 2012. Recent posts describing colleges that we, or good friends, have visited have more photos than I posted for one of our favorite schools and I'm feeling that Guilford got short changed. So, even though we didn't visit again, I am adding additional photos from our first visit (April, 2011) of this beautiful school just outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. This is the fitness area. This is the dining hall. April 14, 2012.

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: December 2012
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. December 31, 2012. I'm keeping the dog! Here is Jesse in his too-big crate, which I sold on Craig's list before the new one came! The housebreaking is a challenge, his tendency to chew and destroy given the opportunity is a challenge, and teaching him to be a loving house dog is a challenge. If Jesse goes out and goes earlier than usual-that it's the duration. Between walks that counts. I'm reading the Monks of New Skete. I’m not ...

Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. October 29, 2014. The end is near, or is it? Alice called me today. “Can you pass by? 8221; she asked. “Your mom doesn’t look good.”. 8220;Are you worried? 8221; I asked. 8220;Yes,” Alice responded. 8220;OK, I’ll be by after yoga.” I’ll skip the mani-pedi. Later Alice called. “You can come tomorrow. She is better now.”. 8220;OK,” I said. “I’ll be there.”. I got a mani-pedi. October 27, 2014. It was awful, and I was very sad. I left ...

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: January 2015
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. January 22, 2015. Ashes: to Save or not to Save? When my dad died in 1983, my mother had his body cremated and did not ask to save his ashes. A close friend of the bakery’s and of my dad’s may have-we are not sure. We do know that this friend, Zeke, drove a bakery van around the crematorium three times honking the horn as a ceremonial gesture. He told my mother that he did this. My parents were married in 1956. I think it was a fantasti...

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: What happens after death for a hospice patient at home
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014/12/what-happens-after-death-for-hospice.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. December 3, 2014. What happens after death for a hospice patient at home. Many elderly people die in hospitals and nursing homes, but that was not our experience and therefore, I cannot write about it. My mother died in a hospice program at home, so I can only describe our experiences with this scenario. The certificates take two days to come; the ashes take longer, like five days. I do not have them yet. “We’ll CALL. I have no idea how...

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: November 2014
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. November 26, 2014. My Mom is Gone. My mother passed away today. This afternoon, as my students were selecting choice time activities, I received a text on my phone. Later, when I was able to view it, I saw it was from Alice. It read: JENNY AM SORRY THE TIME HAS COME AND SHE IS RESTING IN PEACE NOW. Elsa was at my mother’s house, in tears, when we arrived. I kissed her head, held her hands and said goodbye. I have lots more to tell, so n...

Beverley Square West Soccer Mom: August 2014
http://bswsoccermom.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Stories and photographs of my adventures around Brooklyn and beyond. August 31, 2014. Thank God for Ativan. A little more or less makes all of the difference in the world. On a day when my mother does not have enough of her anti-anxiety medication, the world is ending: everything is awful, people are trying to harm her, she cannot laugh and she cannot see any light in life, at all. I am thankful for the effects of this medication. It makes the difference between possible and impossible. August 24, 2014.
