Friday, January 30, 2009. La Skyline from my Roof. Every once in a while, from my apartment roof, you can see the downtown LA skyline (about 10 miles away). About three times a year you can see the mountains past it! Not like the van halen song, which apparently is about a car, not the country. Thursday, August 21, 2008. Ildaura made her first pollera at age 15. Here she is showing me a photo of it. The family was also nice enough to let me try on a pollera and take a photo. It was so HEAVY! And I wasn't even wearing any of the 3 petticoats that normally accompany it. I'm also missing the elaborate headdress (tambleques) and the gobs of gold jewelry that are usually worn. You look fabulous, Erin. Miriam makes me laugh.

Not like the van halen song, which apparently is about a car, not the country. Saturday, August 30, 2008. I've been waiting for 6 weeks for a sunny Sunday afternoon. So at the first hint of a blue sky I took off for Casco Viejo, the old section of Panama City, to take some photos. There are also these really cool remnants of old churches all around. When you've got it, you've got it. Friday, July 13, 2007. A Dedication to Lake Powell. Yes, that right. A dedication to Lake Powell. I was thinking recently of my favorite places to be and Lake Powell is one of the top places on this list. This is for all those people out there who still have doubts about how great Lake Powell is (Jeff, you just wait.you'll change your mind in September.). The days go by so slowly as I wait in anxious. And I have so many good memories of Lake Powell! My friends and family.
