Thursday, October 16, 2008. INFO ON OLD PC's. From time to time, I get questions about how to find information on an old PC, such as a Dell. The best way to go about this is to SEARCH on the net using the model name. for example, a Dell Optiplex 740 Specifications. Then check through the results to find specs on the PC. this works well for especially old PC's. If you have a newer PC, you should be able to find everything you need at the manufacturer's website. Friday, April 23, 2010. I am amazed at how many emails I've recieved from people telling me they are still using Eudora for their email. Eudora was discontinued in 2006. And while there was talk of newer versions being developed, nothing has been released in several years. With no support, there are no security updates, which means you are vulnerable to hackers. And that represents a big risk to those who still use it. Monday, April 19, 2010. STOP SENDING EMAIL HOAXES day on June 28th! With all this new ...

Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Most of us think about identity theft as someone stealing our credit card number or social security number when we write it on a piece of paper. But how many realize this information could be on our computers? And it may be accessible to hackers. This week I spoke with Todd Feinman, CEO of Identity Finder. His program looks on your PC for your personal information and shows you where it is. You then have the opportunity to SHRED it, or SECURE it from prying eyes.

http://computerwisetv.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2008. I've heard from friends with Macs that they do not use anti-virus programs for their computers. So when I purchased a Mac book, I didn't give it much of a thought. Fast forward 6 months later. I decide to install an anti-virus program on it. It found 3 viruses and several errors. So don't believe everything you here. If you are on the Internet, someone is trying to get into your computer. Thursday, July 10, 2008. I do not own an iPod, but I do want to use iTunes on my PC.

ComputerwiseTV BLOG: My new Linksys router!
http://computerwisetv.blogspot.com/2010/04/my-new-linksys-router.html
Monday, April 12, 2010. My new Linksys router! Well, the time has come to let my old wireless router go. after almost a year of weekly "resets", I decided to go take a look at something NEW! I am partial to Linksys routers, so I didn't bother to look at other brands. But in the Linksys section, I came across another "flavor" of router from Linksys' parent company Cisco. You do pay more for the convenience, as a comparable Linksys router costs less but requires more work from the users.
