When it drizzles | firstsweetpang

August 4, 2015. If anyone wants to write me a letter, I promise I’ll write back. The light is changing and I’m tempted to take more photos. This city is relentlessly photogenic, from every angle, from the grand, recognizable monuments to the arbitrary side streets, the rooftops and courtyards and food and dogs and people. The richness of the cuisine we are eating here is almost offset by the amount of walking we are doing. Almost. Back to bed for a few. À bientôt, mes amis. And tagged La Musee d'Orsay.

Such a lot of world to see. July 30, 2015. I’m traveling, again, one of my greatest joys in life, that which keeps me inspired and optimistic and connected to the world outside of my own. Like many of us, my own world can grow conveniently small and safe. I don’t travel to be unsafe, but I travel to leap into my comfort zone which, oddly, I often feel is anywhere but New York. Because sometimes even the people you like most don’t make for the best travel companions; this is not the case. You are commenti...

Within the past year someone asked me what my favorite sound is, and that was my answer. I don’t have favorite anythings, really, but pouring rain is in the top few. 8221; to which everyone replied with astonishment. “I mean, everyone knows this song, right? Every now and then I remember this, and I wonder, still, what song it was. Why was there a clock on the ceiling? I don&...

In the summer, when it sizzles. August 3, 2015. This’ll be the first time I’m returning from Paris with what S called “a killer tan”. Were right; it’s hot here in August! But it’s not unbearable, and the mornings and evenings remain cool. Having a lovely time, wish you were here. That was a long-ass run-on sentence. Wow. But first I must get ready for dinner. À bientôt. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. And tagged Caveau de la Huchette. Such a lot of world to see. When it drizzles →. On Now fill th...

It’s been a long time without you, my friend. September 10, 2016. Somebody asked me what I usually do on 9-11, and while I don’t really have any rituals, writing here has become a tradition of sorts. It helps me. It’s therapeutic and it’s important. I believe that 9-11 enters my mind in some way most days certainly more often than not. And while the visceral memories fade during the year, on the anniversary they return. My coworkers, gathered around a live news feed, one in tears because her husband had ...
