Confessions of a Modern Day [ex] Substitute Teacher: Teaching Portfolio
http://www.confessionsofamoderndaysubstitute.blogspot.com/2015/08/teaching-portfolio.html
Stories and other musings from a substitute teacher. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Since I currently don't have a teaching position for this school year it seems that I have two options. 1) To apply for them now. as they start to slowly start popping up this last month before school starts. The not so secret third option and do both. This is the option that I'm currently embracing). The first thing that I've been making sure is together is my teaching portfolio. Anyways, lets talk portfolios shall we? In her...
Confessions of a Modern Day [ex] Substitute Teacher: July 2015
http://www.confessionsofamoderndaysubstitute.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Stories and other musings from a substitute teacher. Friday, July 24, 2015. A long, long time ago I told you all how I had switched up my math program to better suit the needs of my students. or I started doing math groups. Math groups worked wonderfully in my classroom for a few reasons. 1) I had a range of abilities in my students in math (which class wouldn't though? 3) It allowed me to make myself more available for my students during math class. And I loved that. The games I have listed below are al...

Confessions of a Modern Day [ex] Substitute Teacher: August 2014
http://www.confessionsofamoderndaysubstitute.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Stories and other musings from a substitute teacher. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Top 5 - #3. My third most searched and viewed post was on. Why I think this one made it into the top 5? I know I do a lot of internet searches when it comes to my art classes and so this doesn't surprise me. PLUS, I think I did a rather good job with this lesson. I mean, I included books and everything! Would I do this lesson again in my classroom? Links to this post. Saturday, August 30, 2014. Top 5 - #4. Much like Mad Libs.
Confessions of a Modern Day [ex] Substitute Teacher: TUSC

Stories and other musings from a substitute teacher. Saturday, August 15, 2015. The Unique Speaking Club. Totally Unique Speaking Club. Whatever you call it this club is golden. Here is what my current TUSC line up of jobs looks like:. 4) Time Keeper (I'm still debating on whether this one needs to be included. mostly because the time keeper doesn't really have a speaking role during the meeting and I feel like any student could watch a stop watch for the 3 minute mark and still do their role). They lear...

Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: May 2015
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Confession: I don't like marking. Marking is my life lately. Report cards are due in a little under a month and so I've been making sure I have marks and everything for those. It didn't seem to bother my students either and a fine time was had by all. This weekend John was gone so that left me to do. MORE MARKING! Kilian lives out in the country and a river runs right by his property so he decided to have our life group leader, Mike, baptize...
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: Long Weekend in the City: Things to do
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015/08/long-weekend-in-city-things-to-do.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. Long Weekend in the City: Things to do. Not your typical "to do" list. Although mine probably could have included things like laundry, cleaning, and going to the gym). Oh wait, I did all those things too! John was camping for the long weekend which left me free and clear to do what I wanted in the city (yes, I stayed in the city for an entire week! So I loaded up my cookie sampler plater and headed out the door. Watched the sun set. For t...
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: Something Fishy...
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015/07/something-fishy.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Monday, 27 July 2015. Did you ever hear of the time that 5 people went out on a boat to do some fishing and everyone came back safe and sound without a single fish? Which is why I decided that someone had to catch the fish. I haven't been fishing in over 15 years so this was a pretty big deal. So we celebrated by debating on what kind of fish it was for too long. Just long enough for the fish to find a hole in the net big enough to swim out of. Which is when eve...
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: About This Blog
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/p/about-this-blog.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. This blog is a place for me to ramble on about random things. It is what I've decided to do instead of Facebook. Because I never posted anything on Facebook anyways. Sometimes I might post pictures. Sometimes I might post links to other sites. Sometimes I might post other things. I guess I should know. right? I've also been known to post a spiritual thing here or there. A good label to search under to find those posts would likely be "church" or "bible".

Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Saturday, 29 August 2015. 52 Weeks of Cookies: Week 9. This one is a bit of a boring one. As usual. you can click here. To find the recipe. I don't have much to say about these. except that if I'm being completely honest with myself. And sometimes I like to think that I am). I don't normally care for oatmeal cookies. I decided not to add anything else to these (even though I REALLY wanted to). I'm giving it 7/10. And I think you should try them! I'm pretty organ...
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: 52 Weeks of Cookies - Week 4
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015/07/52-weeks-of-cookies-week-4.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Saturday, 25 July 2015. 52 Weeks of Cookies - Week 4. Fresh Strawberry Oatmeal Cookies. Another week and another batch of cookies (thankfully weeks 1 and 2 cookies have already been finished. my freezer is not busting at the seams with cookies. yet). To be honest, these cookies are the worst so far (but it is only week 4. there will be many MANY other horrible cookies I am sure. A sign that they were still too gooey. I couldn't roll them in my hand. Which is say...
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: Ways to Stay Cool During a Heat Wave
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015/08/ways-to-stay-cool-during-heat-wave.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Sunday, 16 August 2015. Ways to Stay Cool During a Heat Wave. Hopefully everyone else around these parts had some kind of air conditioning this past week. I think we were around 40 degrees with the humidex most days this week! Needless to say I DID NOT spend much time outside this week. What I did do was. 1) I ate popsicles. 3) Slumber party in the living room! 4) Go to the mall! And a bathing suit top - just the top. I didn't like the bottoms. I went to life gr...

Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: Tagalong Cookies
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015/08/tagalong-cookies.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Saturday, 15 August 2015. There is salt inside that little owl. he has a purpose in this picture! 52 Weeks of Cookies: Week 7. You can find the recipe I used for these cookies on Bakeaholic Mama. I used half a recipe. not that you can really tell (or maybe you can). It ended up only making 10 cookies. I probably could have done a full recipe for these. The finished cookie (with a bite taken out). Too much peanut butter! Maybe I over peanut buttered?
Confessions of a Modern Day Mennonite: June 2015
http://pennerc.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Stories and musings from my hum drum life. Sunday, 7 June 2015. Confession: I still have strawberries that I picked nearly a year ago. Perhaps because I don't eat jam and therefore have no need to make any. Perhaps because I love to eat them fresh and once I freeze them I only use them in smoothies. Perhaps because I chopped up a bunch of them and apparently have decided that since they are chopped up I'm not using them in smoothies and only in baking. Yeah that's not happening. Tuesday, 2 June 2015.

Confessions of a Moderately Decent Guy...
Confessions of a Moderately Decent Guy. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Organic Chemistry makes grown men cry. So I just had an organic chemistry exam that was friggin ridiculous. No one in their right mind needs to learn what the hell. 2,3,5-trimethyl-4-cycloheptaoctane means. and I mean no one! I feel that each time I learn a new chemical compound, one of my childhood memories is erased. That last one replaced kindergarten. Nevertheless, each exam brings me one step closer to my goal! Fear is the mind-killer.

Confessions of a Modern Hippie
Confessions of a Modern Hippie. If im free its because im always running. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose. If it’s a dream, I don’t want nobody to wake me. I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that".

Confessions of a Mom in Training
Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Welcome to the world, Jett Tynacin Diaz! On April 4, 2013 we welcomed our perfectly handsome little guy, Jett Tynacin Diaz! Last year (2012) we prayed for a little boy and in July I became pregnant with our little blessing. My pregnancy was blessed with no complications. The only challenges were the norm, fatigue and nausea followed by vomiting almost every day. But it's hard to complain when the result is such a beautiful little life! Back labor on the other hand. I had picked the...
