Confessions of an Everyday Mama

Feb 7, 2017. I have been hesitant to blog now that my children are older and their privacy is the utmost concern, but there is a desperate need to hear from the Moms that have journeyed before. So here i am. Navigating the public school system has been by far one of the greatest challenges in our adoption. There is no right or wrong, and you will make so many mistakes along the way. There will be tears. You will cry. They will cry. It's HARD. Oh so hard. We saw his self esteem flourish on the track. ...

Confessions of an Everyday Mama: Public School & The Adopted Older Child Part 4

http://confessionsofaneverydaymama.blogspot.com/2015/04/public-school-adopted-older-child-part-4.html

Apr 14, 2015. Public School and The Adopted Older Child Part 4. This month we met with the CARE team members and came up with a "game plan" that we all agree with. The team consisted of:. We determined that placing a child with limited education into an ESE class would NOT meet his needs. He does not have a learning disability and is simply having to play catch up. They gave us the option of "opting out" of standardized testing. What has happened to common sense in education? Just when i have things figu...

Confessions of an Everyday Mama: January 2015

http://confessionsofaneverydaymama.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Jan 28, 2015. Public School and the Older Adopted Child. Navigating the public school system with an older adopted child is extremely difficult especially for a child with little schooling. In Feb 2014, we decided to place Joseph (age 12) into the 5th grade. Actually, we didn't have a choice. The school board wanted to place him into middle school, but we knew he was no where emotionally ready for 6th grade, let alone academically. Towards the end of the school year, i stumbled upon this website:. I spen...

Confessions of an Everyday Mama: August 2014

Aug 17, 2014. Choosing Joy when i'm not feeling it. The season of life that I am in now is not going to be my season of life forever. These are the words that i find myself repeating on an hourly basis. Life just has a funny way of just happening. Adoption can put the vow "for better or for worse" to the test in a marriage. And that's FOR REAL! So how do i weather this storm? I must choose JOY even when i don't want to. Joy in the midst of the uncertainty. Joy when i want to bawl my eyes out.

Confessions of an Everyday Mama: Adoption Timeline

http://confessionsofaneverydaymama.blogspot.com/p/adoption-timeline.html

Wondering what our timeline is and where we are at, or what steps we have to take to bring our sweet girl home? Below is a list of all the steps we have to take in order to bring "B" home. Unfortunately for legal reasons we must be vague online. We discuss fostering/adoption. We start praying. Through a series of events we know God wants us to adopt internationally. We start researching agencies. We feel called to adopt an child (boy) with special needs. Started the Homestudy Process. 3 for 0-5 HIV boy.

Confessions of an Everyday Mama: November 2014

http://confessionsofaneverydaymama.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Nov 26, 2014. What is wrong with me? I am drawn to the message of Jesus and have been from a young age. When i think of Jesus, i think of His love, His generosity, His servant's heart, and His hope. I want that in my life. I am so passionately in love with Jesus that my heart aches over what I'm about to write. I know that I'm a hot mess and i know that i need Jesus. I know that i need community. The body of believers. But why do i feel like such an outsider? Why do i feel like i never measure up? Maybe ...

Advertise with Grace & Beauty. Beauty For The Heart. Inspiring women to be beautiful from the inside out. Tips For A Better Night’s Sleep. August 4, 2015. If there is one thing that drives me crazy (okay there are lots of things that drive me crazy but we haven’t got time for that), it’s not being able to sleep. I was the best sleeper, until I turned 40. Then all of a sudden 3:30 am became my new best friend! Sorry, but that best friend had to go. Here are some tips that I have found work for me. I know ...

Letting God Write Our Story: November 2013

http://www.lettinggodwriteourstory.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

A story about one family's journey through adoption, orphan care, and the hard times in between. Sunday, November 3, 2013. Being a child. A child here in the United States. A child in Russia. A child in Peru. A child in Africa. Your parents are too interested in drugs than you. Or you lost your mom to AIDS. Or maybe your father abandoned you on the side of the road. It breaks my heart (and breaks my heart that I have a son who did that everyday for 3 long years). And what breaks my heart even more is...

Why I give over 10% of my income

See how you rank. List of all reader-submitted budgets. Mark’s Bare Budget Reports. Send me a note. Why I give over 10% of my income. May 11, 2015. The main inspiration behind building this blog was my arguably nosy curiosity about other peoples’ personal finance lives in combination with my desire to help people with their finances. I built a tool to accomplish both of those things. You can bare your budget. And can ask me anything you want. You can see some of the questions I’ve answered here. Tithing ...

I don’t know about you, but having so many ideas floating around in my head, so many things I want/ need to do, so many goals- it’s hard to keep on top of it all. And I have to say I LOVE it! Confessions of a Never-Was

Confessions of a Never-Was. Friday, September 27, 2013. Watch Out For The Skunk Ape. September 27th, 2013. I like seeing my friends getting successful. Albeit bittersweet, it's a nice thing to witness. I like seeing hard work getting people I know into better stages in life. I like it when they share their happiness with other people, rather than dump on the ones that helped them get to a better place. I think I listen to too much Pop Punk. Is there such a thing? Stay healthy, players. I put myself in a ...

~ Confessions of a New Girl ~

Confessions of a New Girl. The Life and Times of High School - Day by Day. Sunday, August 28, 2011. Day 7: I Really Don't Know What To Title This Because Nothing Happened Today and I Just Had a Brain Fart. Today was pretty stressful. Last night, I stayed up almost all night to study for this French exam my teacher told us we'd have. It was on all of the basics of French. Numbers, greetings, months, days of the week, etc. Once class starts, nowhere on the agenda does it say exam. UGH! What a waste of time!
