Confessions of a Software Geek

Confessions of a Software Geek. Ramblings and rumblings about my many worlds of geekdom. Monday, October 17, 2005. For all practical purposes there were no required classes. Sure, individual classes had prerequisites, but you were pretty free to pick whatever classes appealed to you. You also had to take classes that would prepare you for working on your degree requirements. And you had to accumulate a certain number of credit hours. Posted by Brian Lingard @ 9:19 PM. Confessions of a Software Geek: September 2005

http://confessionsofasoftwaregeek.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

Confessions of a Software Geek. Ramblings and rumblings about my many worlds of geekdom. Friday, September 30, 2005. I attended college (engineering school) during the early 80's and got to experience first hand the transformation of computing from mainframes to early personal computers. I took my first programming class during my Freshman year. It was Fortran. At this time (1981-82) you had to type in your program onto punch cards. Posted by Brian Lingard @ 8:36 PM. Confessions of a Software Geek: Commodore Computers

http://confessionsofasoftwaregeek.blogspot.com/2005/05/commodore-computers.html

Confessions of a Software Geek. Ramblings and rumblings about my many worlds of geekdom. Friday, May 20, 2005. My first real experience with a "commercially" available computer was when my Dad bought a VIC-20, I don't recall the exact year but must have been around 1983 or so. It was definitely kind of limited - only 5K of RAM, no floppy drive, programs loaded from cassettes. But it was a "real" computer. You could write your own programs on it - in Basic. Confessions of a Software Geek: When I Was Ten....

http://confessionsofasoftwaregeek.blogspot.com/2005/03/when-i-was-ten.html

Confessions of a Software Geek. Ramblings and rumblings about my many worlds of geekdom. Wednesday, March 09, 2005. When I Was Ten. When I was about ten years old (circa 1974), my father bought his first computer, an RCA Cosmac Elf. It was a kit that you had to build yourself. It came with printed circuit boards, all the chips, wires, and so on. It used an 8-bit processor that amazingly didn't come from Intel. The system actually predated IBM type PCs by several years. Confessions of a Software Geek: Droppin' Quarters

http://confessionsofasoftwaregeek.blogspot.com/2005/06/droppin-quarters.html

Confessions of a Software Geek. Ramblings and rumblings about my many worlds of geekdom. Tuesday, June 21, 2005. Arcade games. Those two words conjure up very distinct images in people all based on what was hot when they were in their early teen years. For me it was the arcade game "Tempest" and the pinball game "Black Knight". I spent alot of quarters on those two games. Posted by Brian Lingard @ 12:47 PM. View my complete profile. Brian's Virtual Journal: Making Movies

http://bslingard.blogspot.com/2006/03/making-movies.html

Musings about my various interests, hobbies, and other random topics. Saturday, March 25, 2006. Hey, I've been reading a really great book called "Teach Yourself Film Making" by Tom Holden. I like his no nonsense, direct and to the point style. While it is doubtful that anyone will able to storm Hollywood after reading the book, it will give any aspiring film maker a great intro to the endeavor of making an honest to goodness film. Journal

Monday, December 29, 2008. Here I am again facing tiredness and boredom. I don't want to go to sleep because I feel like I'm wasting my time and I want to do something. My bed is calling me but I am resisting. I'm trying to run away from it by any means. I tried listening to music, now I'm writing this post. I guess I'm just going to accept the fact that I need to sleep and just go. Anyway, I don't know what I'm writing about. I'm too tired to think. Let's just leave my thoughts for another time.
