Crowdfunding Science: An Idea I Want To Love. The blog has gone a little quiet as I converge on what is hopefully The End of dissertating, which has been taking up an awful lot of time. But a recent post by DrugMonkey. On their perceptions of the hurdles crowdfunding science faces inspired me to write a post. Because, while I disagree with some of the specific points DM makes, I tend to agree – crowdfunding’s time has not yet come. This makes me really, really sad. More after the jump. In a previous post.

Confounding Expectations.
Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none. Sunday, November 12, 2006. Ah, British humor. That many have fallen into the trap of deluding themselves. Their opposition to Bush is so intense, so irrational, that they parrot the enemies propaganda. And herein lies the danger. For it is similarly easy to parody Bush, to rejoice in his humiliation. Generally speaking, would you say that most people can be trusted or that you can’t be too careful in dealing with people? This tangled bowl of spaghetti (that’s Putnam again) is pretty much impossible to unpick, but it seems to me, that the fork around which the spaghetti twirls is social class. That muffled. Retrieving your Purloined Loins
Retrieving your Purloined Loins. For you, Aaron. At first, I hated that everyone was posting tributes to you on Facebook. It hurt me to open up my app, needing that quick dopamine hit of a Like on a picture, and instead seeing your smiling face with friends who miss you. Then several people, including your mom, mentioned how they found comfort in reading those posts. They show what an impact you had on so many lives. How many people (outside of Japan) even know that game exists? After I came back from Sp...
