Thursday, May 29, 2014. Our last unit in math explores concepts of measurement. We are concentrating on length. In first grade, our objective is to develop accurate measurement techniques. For example, we must line up our starting points and we must be careful not to leave gaps or have overlaps between units. Friday, February 21, 2014. We celebrated the Olympics this week with Olympic math stations and a little competition of our own! First, our class mathletes had to complete a five ring math menu. Each child had to complete five math stations. When the task was finished, they colored in an Olympic ring. We crowned some more Royal Readers this week. I was pleasantly surprised at the weekly minute totals. So many students logged into RazKids even while on vacation from school! Inquiring Minds Want to Know.

With all the technology available and the amazing things our children are capable of, it is time to teach some typing! In third grade, students will be taking important tests on the computer. Several of these tests will require the students to compose on the computer. They must be proficient at typing. It would be so unfair for our children to under-perform simply because they couldn't find the right keys. Also, we have started working in a program called TypingWeb.
