Musings of a Teacher, Leader, and Learner. Picture Books as Portals: Helping HS Students Re-discover Magic. In Related to Teaching. Asymp; 13 Comments. I believe in the power of reading stories aloud. I believe in the power of simple plots and innocent characters that evoke deep emotions and complex themes. It's what I do. The things that make me happy. Troop 3 backpacking trip to Sipsey Wilderness, AL. March 22, 2014. We hiked for a good ways and found some neat-o stuff like a rock tree and a natural rock tent. We decided along down the trail that we would have lunch after the imminent river crossing which we eventually came to. Credit to Frederick B. as the author of this post. It's what I do. The things that make me happy. I think backpacking is one of the coolest things to do. I have done quite a bit since I have picked it up when I was working at a therapeutic wilderness program in Georgia. My wife and I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail for our honeymoon in 2007. I am going to try to compile all of my backpacking trips here. This should be an interesting endeavor. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Musings of a Teacher, Leader, and Learner. Why I fell in love with #EduCon. In Related to Teaching. Asymp; 4 Comments. I often claim to “love” the conference I’m attending. What makes EduCon different from other conferences? It’s held in a school. Did you notice the words that were missing from that description? I didn’t mention R...

It's what I do. The things that make me happy. April led Nashville’s Troop 3. To Land Between the Lakes. Each year we do a High Adventure trip and in 2011, it was a multi-sport trip. Which included backpacking, rock climbing and whitewater rafting to North Georgia and North Carolina. The backpacking took place in the Cohutta Wilderness Area, rock climbing at Pigeon Mountain, and whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River. In November, I went with the oldest patrol of Nashville’s Troop 3. A Drive to Learn.
