When I wrote “try new things” as a study abroad goal, I wasn’t expecting to find myself crammed into a minibus with rattling windows and a lightbulb dangling from the ceiling, my body squeezed between several other bodies, my hands gripping the metal bars on either side of the bus. Milima na Mawe: Hiking in Tanzania. March 3, 2015. July 30, 2015. In the two months I’ve been in Tanzania, I’ve gone on 5 hikes, summitted mountains and climbed more boulders than I can count. Hence, the title of this post: milima. Stones). The hiking is tiring, but it pays off–the views are breathtaking! This hike was pretty much bush-whacking, but we were lucky enough to have a guide: a Tanzanian boy who came out of nowhere and offered to guide us up the mountain, in his crocs!
