There are actually SEAGRASSES there! Labrador Park is the only Rocky Shore habitat in Singapore. Students often come here to study this unique and “rare” habitat(: Here is some information on the ecology of rocky shores. Ecology of Rocky Shore. There are generally 4 zones on rocky shore: Splash Zone, Upper Shore, Middle Shore and Lower Shore. The middle shore is around mean sea level, and is submerged for roughly half a day for each day. It has more bio diversity than the upper shore and splash zone.

There are actually SEAGRASSES there! 29th Jan 2010 -Last trip to lab park ):. This trip marked our last trip to Lab Park. ): The tide was very low, and we could see a lot of seagrass! Insert pic of low tide). Due to the low tide, we finished our random sampling of 33 quadrats in a relatively short time. the seagrass generally looked healthy, except for those which were growing near the shore, which appeared to be black. There was a lot of algae washed up and near the shore this time! A shrimp we spotted!

They:. 8211; are food sources for many animals such as dugongs, sea turtles and fish. 8211; provide a feeding place for shorebirds such as egrets. 8211; have a high primary productivity rate and are vital in nutrient cycling, they also provide a shelter and is a nursery and feeding grounds for shrimps, prawns, fish and crabs, which are commercially important.

There are actually SEAGRASSES there! Team 2 Reporting…. Three days later, on the 31. May, we went back down to collect the Thalassia in our quadrats in order to monitor their growth. As the tide was a little too high, we could not really see the seagrasses as clearly as on our previous visit. Fortunately, we could locate our quadrats and proceeded to collect the seagrass.
