Exhibit at the soon-to-be-opening National Museum of Surveying. Here in Springfield, Illinois. Photos taken by Hwan Lim of the NOAA. Click pics for larger versions. My dad and brother helped out a little by configuring the router for us. The impressive array of 'puters that run the thing. Me in the foreground, happy to be learning. Mars on the sphere.

The Cushy Blog: Getting Into Film?
http://timdrussell.blogspot.com/2008/08/getting-into-film.html
Tuesday, August 05, 2008. On Location, August 2, 2008. August 1-3, I had the pleasure of being involved in the shooting of a short independent film shot and set in Chicago and written, produced, and directed by my friend Splotchy. I was the sound recordist on the project, operating the boom mic, the mixer, and audio electronics stuff like that. It was an opening and a great learning experience for me. The other 12 or so folks who worked on the shoot were such good people. Posted by Timothy Donavan Russell.

The Cushy Blog: July 2009

Thursday, July 23, 2009. Make The YOU Difference. This has been on the mirror in the bathroom at my work for as long as I've had my job- over 9 years now. I don't know who stuck it there; none of my coworkers will take credit for it if they did. But I want to thank the unknown responsible person, because its sentiment plus awkward typesetting gives me a little laugh almost every time I see it. Will make the I difference! The Cushy Blog: December 2008

Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Capo Tasto: New Music. Well hey, I just completed a 4-song, 18 minute EP titled Capo Tasto. It's actually my first new music in more than a year.) The songs are all rock-ish instrumentals influenced by an eclectic mix of Cocteau Twins, Stereolab, and Pink Floyd. As usual with solo works, I played everything my own darn self. Here are them songs:. 4 A World Tipped On Stereo. For those of you interested in the nerdy, technical aspects, here they are:. Essex 4-string electric bass.

Saturday, December 05, 2009. Real Dinosaur Sounds 2. Another field recording in binaural of real dinosaurs, this time from the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago. I found myself in a forest full of pachycephalosaurs (Stygimoloch). There was much discussion. Listen with headphones to get the full effect. The Cushy Blog: There's My Photo Theremin
http://timdrussell.blogspot.com/2009/12/theres-my-photo-theremin.html
Saturday, December 26, 2009. There's My Photo Theremin. My brother gave me this for Xmas. It's an Electro-Faustus EF102 Photo Theremin. It's like a traditional theremin. But instead of interfering with radio signals you play with the amount of light reaching a photo sensor. Less light reaching the sensor results in a lower pitch, more light a higher pitch. Tuesday, March 02, 2010. Faceboobs: Gullible Men Wanted. I am the repeated target of ads for dating sites on Facebook that feature (sometimes ridiculously) large-breasted women. Are you, as well? I'm not complaining yet, really, just noticing and blogging. Here is but a sampling. Enjoy. Posted by Timothy Donavan Russell. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
