Meditations on the ineffable, effable, and effanineffable…. My Other Blog is Funnier. Walking in the Rain. I bundled up for a brisk walk in the chill air tonight, down coat wrapped around myself and my toddler, zipped up by my husband’s hands as we stood in the brightly lit kitchen. To my surprise, I stepped out into a warm, wetly shining night and my quick walk soon took me farther than I’d planned as I savored the warmth punctuated by a capricious breeze. Dripping rain in full and glorious surround sou...

I'm a writer,. And I've got the glasses to prove it. True fact: Writing, for me, mostly involves getting up before the crack of dawn and pounding out sh*tty first drafts (that’s an Anne Lamott reference, Mom, not me actually swearing, okay? That I will later massage into something presentable, but only after much wringing of hands and, not infrequently, salt tears. You see how much I love it. It is also true to say that I love. I love that I. I also write magazine articles. Today’s Charlotte Woman. Middo...

Thursday, 29 December 2016. Winter night and day. During an evening of freezing fog, this web appeared on a parked car sometime between 7pm and 11pm. And the next morning, it seemed that other spiders had been busy in the cold. Bright sun on hoar frost hadn't yet melted the ice. But it was doing its best. And succeeded in the open spaces. Saturday, June 11, 2011. What have I been up to lately? Nothing, just didnt feel like it. But when I have a blog and I dont update it I get guilty. So heres some pretty pictures for you that I drew since I stopped posting (oldest to newest). All of them are linked to my flickr, except for the last one, and the one from my webcomic, "muffburger". A lot has happened since I last posted, so I'll try to just spew it out in a nutshell. I got a webcomic (one that I'm actually keeping up with) called Muffburger.

Meditations on the ineffable, effable, and effanineffable…. My Other Blog is Funnier. Grateful for the frost that sculpts. Each leaf a separate work of art. Grateful for the frosted dam that rises. Through the mist and reflects. Grateful for each blade of grass. Yet green ‘neath hoary glaze of frost. Grateful for the sun that creeps by moments. Down the bare grey trunk. Brighting each tree naked. Grateful for the gift of breath. Received, cold clear and. Given back again mist,. Home warm peeling coat.

Contemplative Catholic Reflections

Just some reflections and devotionals of an ordinary Catholic Mom of two and Grammy of Five. Friday, May 28, 2010. The Secret of Sanctity and Happiness. Pope John Paul II. When he was a little boy, was given a prayer of surrender to the Holy Spirit by his father, and he told him to pray that every day - and he did. John Paul II. The Holy Spirit can use us, also, if we too have devotion to Him and surrender to Him every day! If you do this, your life will flow along happily, serenely and full of consolati...

Contemplative Catholic Spirituality

Seeking to apply monastic spirituality and radical Gospel living to our everday lives. Thursday, August 9, 2012. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. One Year at Hope House. So we celebrate this season of anniversary for Hope House remembering that this is the season that we began providing housing to our first homeless man, when we first opened the house to visitors, and soon, (probably this coming weekend) the first anniversary of a Hope House outreach morning. Happy one year anniversary to Hope House! So tod...

Come aside and rest awhile. Tuesday, 1 August 2017. During a recent storm around the 22 May, a branch broke away from a tree opposite a church in Allerton, Liverpool. This picture is offered for what it is. Some people see an image of Mary others see a scar on the trunk of a tree. What do you think? There is a story attached to the event but I somehow feel its a bit of an urban myth. Besides, what would the Mother of God be doing hiding in trees in an affluent suburb of Liverpool?
