Contentedly Crunchy

Saturday, July 30, 2016. Pinning my hopes elsewhere. I thought I'd give a brief update from the last week. It has been a big one full of ups and downs. 1) I finished my last college course requirement for my certification as an IBCLC! Now it's on to 90 hours of lactation education, CPR certification, and applying for the exam by mid-November! I'm on track to take the exam in April and be officially certified by July of next year! 2) I was cleared to go for walks and went for two of them! I'm not giving u...

Contentedly Crunchy: 30 Days of Gratitude: My own resourcefulness

http://contentedlycrunchy.blogspot.com/2014/11/30-days-of-gratitude-my-own.html

Tuesday, November 4, 2014. 30 Days of Gratitude: My own resourcefulness. 30 Days of Gratitude, Day 4: My own resourcefulness:. It is a rather hard-won quality, but I am commonly described as "resourceful." Today I am grateful for all the times I had to make crazy shit work because it means I might be able to make crazy shit work again. Also, I voted today. And I'm grateful for all the women (and men) who came before me to give me the right to do so. 30 Days of Gratitude, Day 5: My right to vote.

Friday, November 7, 2014. 30 Days of Gratitude: Behind-the-Scenes and Oxytocin. I love you.a bushel and a peck. 30 Days of Gratitude, Day 6: Behind-the-Scenes. Take back your mink. When I auditioned for Guys and Dolls in September, I was really unsure whether there was a role for me. I told the folks doing the casting that I would do anything they asked - including play in the pit orchestra instead of being on stage - and they cast me as a Hot Box Girl. A dancer. What? Contentedly Crunchy: Coconut Oil vs. the Diaper Rash

http://contentedlycrunchy.blogspot.com/2011/02/coconut-oil-vs-diaper-rash.html

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Coconut Oil vs. the Diaper Rash. Last week, I wrote a guest post. On dealing with yeast in cloth diapers over at the The Green Nursery's. One of the commenters suggested treating a yeast rash with coconut oil for its natural antifungal properties. Brilliant! Yet another use for the stuff. Squeak has been suffering with a recurring rash that is not. Has helped with the long overnights in diapers. We've tried a barrier, but it didn't always prevent the rash. Underarm soother (aft...

Contentedly Crunchy: 30 Days of Gratitude: Avocados

http://contentedlycrunchy.blogspot.com/2014/11/30-days-of-gratitude-avocados.html

Monday, November 3, 2014. 30 Days of Gratitude: Avocados. 30 Days of Gratitude, Day 3: Avocados. What's not to be thankful for with this amazing fruit? They've been one of my favorite foods since I was a kid, and Albuquerque. Completely spoiled me with their regional affordability. I found them on sale here this week, which means I ate one on its own for breakfast (and my having an appetite for breakfast is a minor miracle these days - all hail the avocado! And then created my lunch around eating another.

Contentedly Crunchy: Cloth Menstrual Pads

http://contentedlycrunchy.blogspot.com/2011/06/cloth-menstrual-pads.html

Monday, June 20, 2011. This is part of my series on reusable cloth stuff. FINALLY. And I'm going to refuse to call it "mama cloth." Okay? Also, if you are uncomfortable with anything alluded to by the word "menstrual," maybe don't read this post? I'm thinking this isn't one my favorite dads will be interested in. There are two aspects I think I should address: 1) Why cloth? 2) Ew The ick factor. (Laundry.). Then I'll write up reviews of the brands I tried - please add your own reviews in the comments!

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Thursday, February 27, 2014. I can hardly believe how old my kids are getting. It's going too fast. Happy Birthday to Nile! Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Someone has been more interested in letters lately. He even has tried to write his own name. When I was working on his valentines for Gumdrops, he wanted to write his name like his big brothers were doing. He only did one, but look! Saturday, February 8, 2014. Friday, February 7, 2014. http://ryersonfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Friday, January 2, 2015. Every year around New Year's, I pull out the old growth chart that mom used to track my and Becky's height each year. From this I can see that in 2014 the two older boys grew 2" each, while Novak grew 2.5". I can also see that Nate is taller at 9.5 than I was at 12. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). http://ryersonfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Friday, August 15, 2014. This year at school, Nate has volunteered to be a "lunch helper." The lunch helpers help serve food, help the younger kids with their lunches, and clean up the tables after groups come through. So far he loves it - and it's left me wondering why he doesn't love to do these things at home. :). Saturday, August 2, 2014. Twist, twist, pull. Not a minute later, as Nate got back to their bathroom, I hear, "It's out! Nile's tooth is out!

sunlight on your bed: March 2015

http://ryersonfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. This year we have headed to Millwaukee for spring break. Yesterday we started by heading straight to the Sprecher brewery. Free beer samples and all you can drink soda. Nate and Nile voted the Sprecher root beer the "best ever." Apparently the New York Times agrees. After that we headed back to the hotel and swam, and hung out there for the rest of the evening. Dinner in the hotel bar. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Nathan made this building today and wanted to have a picture so he could remember it. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Nate and Nile both had sports practices tonight so Novak and I were home alone. In all honesty I was desperate for something to entertain him as we had just returned from our vacation. I feel like I have been in full Novak mode all week. He has been in close proximity for much of the last week and I was tired.

http://ryersonfamilyblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/portland-vacation-day-2.html

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Portland Vacation Day 2. On Tuesday, we decided to just stay in the city and explore a little bit on foot. We started with a run in Forest Park. This park has 80 miles of trails - talk about a running and hiking paradise! The pictures don't really capture how beautiful this place is. The trees are dark and the shades of green are so beautiful. It was also 58 degrees - perfect for running. The main trail/road has nicely marked miles.

Sunlight on your bed. The Ryerson Family Blog. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Portland Vacation Day 1. Tom and I are on a kid-free vacation to Portland. Our first trip away alone in what feels like forever. We arrived Sunday evening and visited a few breweries and ate dinner. On Monday, we headed to the Mt. Hood area to see waterfalls. And oh, did we see waterfalls! The first one, Latourelle Falls, turned out to be our favorite. Probably because there was nobody else there. It was also beautiful. :). Portland V...

contentedly in a sentence | simple examples

In A Sentence .org. The best little site that helps you understand word usage with examples. Contentedly in a sentence. Page 159 punctuation after contentedly has been. Perhaps contentedly is scarcely the right term. Many credit Kanye with helping to sell out the festival in five days, but as I trudged wearily but contentedly across the massive crowd bobbing to his loud, energetic set, I was content, still replaying Harveys epic Down By The Water in my head. Striving for simplicity and intentionality while juggling kids, spouse, house, and life. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Is my favorite day of the liturgical year, even though the typical Maundy. THIS is it | This moment, this action, THIS is life.

This moment, this action, THIS is life. August 4, 2010 by contentedlyexisting. Within my mind, I have something. I’m fairly certain its origin is in genetics, seeing as my mother possesses it in greater portion than me. That said, I’m also certain that despite it being passed down, my own version has morphed and grafted itself to my identity so that even the parts of me that differ from my mother are engulfed in it as if I birthed it myself. Today I finally gave it a name. It is (. Dun, dun, dun! This is...
