The Content Gardener

Tuesday, 23 September 2008. A month or so ago, I took a tentative step into the world of ordering plants over the internet. It's a bit nervewracking; what if the plants that arrive aren't in good condition? What if you're out when they arrive, and they wilt while waiting at the depot? Neither of these things happened. The pansies. Patio pinks and clematises. The new sowings of spinach and salad vegetables haven't done anything very impressive. I suspect that it's been too rainy and cool for them to g...

The Content Gardener: March 2008

http://www.contentgardener.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 11 March 2008. I have moved the containers with the delicate plants indoors, where we can trip over them until mid-April. And I potted up all the other seedlings/little plants into larger pots. Amazingly, I did not cover the entire world in compost while doing this, which is a first. I wouldn't mind the moss that much - it's soft and green, isn't it? I must do something about it soon if I'm going to, because we want to be able to put the guinea pigs on the lawn during the summer, which means we ...

The Content Gardener: September 2007

http://www.contentgardener.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, 23 September 2007. Well, obviously I overestimated the amount of spare time I was going to have this summer. I did have time to garden, and to take photographs of my gardening. So over the next few days I'm going to try to post a few catch-up entries, to remind myself (and anyone who's reading this - Mum? Of what happened in the garden this summer. It was a steep learning curve, I'll tell you that. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Content Gardener: Scottish Garden Show, sun and rain

http://www.contentgardener.blogspot.com/2008/08/scottish-garden-show-sun-and-rain.html

Monday, 18 August 2008. Scottish Garden Show, sun and rain. Looking back at the summer, I see that it started fairly promisingly. June was warm; the photos Mum took at the Edinburgh Garden Show look very nice and sunny. We had a lovely day there and I came back loaded with plants (a passionflower, a doronicum, some scented pinks and a heuchera). The vegetable garden got off to a fairly good start, although all of my courgette plants got eaten by slugs AGAIN. I don't have any luck with courgettes....Since...

Square One: June 2011

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. I'm now on maternity leave. This should leave me lots of time for blogging. And knitting. And doing all sorts of things. It isn't working out quite like that. Psychologically. I'm not so sure. Despite the fact that I can feel Billy scooting about (mostly from side to side) it is a really weird thought that sometime in the next two or three weeks, I will. Be giving birth and we will have a new little person to bring home. I sti...

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Monday, July 25, 2011. Nicholas was born a week ago, at 1.27 on Sunday morning. As the weekend approached I was beginning to come round to the idea of going ahead, though, if the baby really wasn’t here by then. At this point they weren't hugely painful, though. I feel very lucky that the delivery went so well, and almost nothing that I was worried about happened. I seem to have recovered remarkably well. J and I are now engaged in learning to be par...

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2014/09/day-19-run-2.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Friday, September 19, 2014. Day 19, run 2. Out for my second run today. I was doing quite well to get out, since I have had a sore throat for the past few days and felt pretty rough this morning, but I was feeling better by late afternoon. It all went smoothly although there were definitely more people (and cars) around at 5pm than at 1.30 - I guess they're all going home from work! 1km walk: 1.1km, 8:52, avg pace 8.47. http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Tuesday, October 11, 2011. It has been a busy few weeks in our household. As Isabelle. Posted a little while ago, our family has experienced rather a lot of big life events this year (birth, a death, marriage, moving house, retirement, redundancy.). I feel a bit guilty about not doing more towards the wedding. I realise that having a very small baby is a fairly good excuse, but my sister's best friend did a lot more than I did. I'm 33, and from Edinb...

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2014/09/day-8.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Monday, September 08, 2014. Up 1lb since last week :(. It is traditional at this point to say something about increased muscle mass or water weight but I don't really think those are the reasons.). I'd have to say that in the past, I've tried calorie-counting and the numbers have sat stubbornly in the same place unless I was doing a lot of exercise as well. Still, onwards and upwards (or downwards, I hope). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm 33,...

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Monday, September 29, 2014. Day 29, run 6. Well, the running hit a slight bump in the road the weekend before last, when my sore throat turned into a full-on cold (with cold sweats and feeling shaky and shivery) and then a cough. Which didn't really help with the running. I had to postpone the last run of week 1 until I was feeling better and more reliably able to breathe. That is impressive running! مكافحة حشرات بالاحساء والجبيل. شركة تنظيف الفلل با...

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Daylight has been in rather short supply up here. It's been raining for much of the past week and at the time of year when it starts to get dark in mid-afternoon, it's a bit discouraging when noon is obscured by dark clouds as well. We had a lovely peaceful weekend with the family, and FIL's party went well. I finished the second sock of this pair:. On Saturday I had another busy day - I went up to see my brother and his g...

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Monday, November 14, 2011. The other wedding that we went to was a mere week after the first one and presented a totally different set of logistical challenges. We were guests rather than family (the groom is our neighbour of several years) so we didn't have to do anything other than turn up, but the wedding was held in Strathpeffer, a village in the Highlands which is about four hours' drive from Edinburgh. Regular readers of this blog (ha! After th...

Square One: So it begins again

http://redofromstart.blogspot.com/2014/09/so-it-begins-again.html

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Monday, September 01, 2014. So it begins again. This used to be a fitness blog. Now I want to do that again. I've had a peculiar sort of summer. I've been jobhunting and also doing a professional-development course (in order to make myself more employable, I hope) and as a result have spent a lot of time sitting down. I think I've probably had less exercise than if I'd been at work. As of today (Monday), I am setting a couple of goals:. Day 29, run 6.

Changing my lifestyle, and getting it right this time. Thursday, August 25, 2011. Five and a half weeks on. Firstly, thank you for all the congratulations on our boy's birth! The following extremely self-indulgent post is mostly a record for me, so I can write down things about our little peanut's first few weeks before I forget them. So apologies is this is boring (unless you're one of the grandparents or something, in which case it probably isn't). Here he is at four days:. And this is him at just unde...
