http://jachsnapshots.blogspot.com/2015/07/europe-it-been-too-long.html
Snapshots of Our Life. Thursday, July 2, 2015. Europe, its been too long! In December, John and I will have been married 20 years. As an early celebration (this won't jinx it, will it? We are taking a trip to Germany, Switzerland, and Italy this summer. No kids! As a teacher, I took groups of students on exchange trips to Germany every summer. The last trip I took was while I was pregnant with Campbell, 15 years ago. That is way too long. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Backroads, Day 5.

Snapshots of Our Life: Prost!
http://jachsnapshots.blogspot.com/2015/07/prost.html
Snapshots of Our Life. Wednesday, July 8, 2015. I also got a plate of curry wurst and pommes, one of my favorite snack foods in Germany. After our break, we took another train and a subway to our hotel. It's called Motel One, and I chose it for its reasonable price and central location. It also happens to be a very nice hotel, and the breakfast this morning was delicious! That's the view from our window. And here's the room (with my luggage all over the bed), small but comfortable:. Snapshots of Our Life: Zürich
http://jachsnapshots.blogspot.com/2015/07/zurich.html
Snapshots of Our Life. Friday, July 10, 2015. We finally got to Zürich yesterday around noon. First stop: lunch at Zeughauskeller. Beautiful ceilings, antique weapons all over the walls, and delicious food. Then we wandered around town for a couple of hours. And toured a church (Fraumünster), including 185 steps up one of the spires. These tiny footprints were at the base of one of the stairways. Can anyone enlighten me as to why? Hotel Siberhorn and views from the hotel. Backroads, Day 6, Odds and Ends.

Snapshots of Our Life: Wandern in Lauterbrunnen
http://jachsnapshots.blogspot.com/2015/07/wandern-in-lauterbrunnen.html
Snapshots of Our Life. Friday, July 10, 2015. This sign said 2.25 hours to our destination. John and I are pretty fit and active, and we were moving at a decent pace, so we thought for sure we'd beat the posted time, but.um.no; it took us 2.5 to get up there! A bit humbling. I guess the average Swisshiker is fitter than the average American. A Swiss "cairn". There were no piles of rocks, but these Swiss flag colors were painted on rocks and trees as trail markers. Finally arriving at the Lobhornhütte:.

This hotel where we spent the last two nights of the trip was absolutely beautiful. Our room is large and heavily air conditioned, and the grounds and view are spectacular.

http://jachsnapshots.blogspot.com/2015/07/lauterbrunnen-part-2-waterfalls.html
Snapshots of Our Life. Saturday, July 11, 2015. Lauterbrunnen, Part 2 - Waterfalls. Friday evening we walked a couple of miles from our hotel through the Lauterbrunnen valley. To see the Trümmelbachfälle- a series of 10 waterfalls in the mountainside. You take a tram up through the mountain and start viewing the falls from the top. John said that Rivendale of Lord of the Rings was patterned after or inspired by this area. I can see that. It is so magically beautiful. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
