When cooking the crumpets, pay special attention to the heat of the pan. I find filling the crumpet rings before placing the pan on the heat makes for a better base and avoids any burning mishaps. To make around 20 crumpets, you will need:. 400g strong white flour. 1/2 teaspoon of salt. A 7g sachet fast action dried yeast. Small amount of oil (you could use many kinds of oil, including sunflower and rapeseed). Place all the flour in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the salt. Pour this mixture into the well.
