Mango tofu spring rolls | cookery bookery

https://cookerybookery.wordpress.com/2011/06/06/mango-tofu-spring-rolls

Tales from the kitchen of a perfectionist amateur cook. June 6, 2011. Mango tofu spring rolls. Posted by sarahedalrymple under Appetizer. Every now and then I get adventurous and decide to try to replicate something I’ve eaten at a restaurant. I usually don’t get that close to the original, but it’s a fun exercise to go through. Plus, if I’m lucky it still tastes good. This particular culinary adventure was inspired by a visit to Andy Nguyen’s Restaurant. That said, I still included my recipe below!

Peach blackberry cobbler | cookery bookery

https://cookerybookery.wordpress.com/2011/07/15/peach-blackberry-cobbler

Tales from the kitchen of a perfectionist amateur cook. July 15, 2011. Posted by sarahedalrymple under Dessert. Despite having grown up in Alabama, I know relatively little about how to make quintessential southern dishes. Fried chicken? Made it twice in my life. Grits? I know they’re made of corn, but don’t really know how to make them. I’m sure it’s not hard, but I’d have to follow a recipe, same as any other average joe. When you’re done, you’ll end up with something very imperfect-looking...If you do...

Tales from the kitchen of a perfectionist amateur cook. May 29, 2011. Fava bean soup with mint and pasilla chile. Posted by sarahedalrymple under Legumes. Vicken and I are looking for a place to move this fall for what will probably be our last year in Davis (fingers crossed! We recently had dinner with some old friends that I originally met through Vicken and who used to organize a weekly Four Square game every summer–clearly all-around awesome people, right? Slow-simmered fava bean soup. 2 Tablespoons ...

Tales from the kitchen of a perfectionist amateur cook. June 17, 2011. Posted by sarahedalrymple under Dessert. My favorite part of spring for the last couple of years has been seeing the first local strawberries appear at the market after months of having only root vegetables and greens. This year we’ve been in for a real treat because we’ve been getting strawberries from our own garden! I have Deb from smittenkitchen. In a way, I think finding this recipe last summer has been detrimental to my developm...

Roasted tomato and pesto pizza | cookery bookery

https://cookerybookery.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/roasted-tomato-and-pesto-pizza

Tales from the kitchen of a perfectionist amateur cook. September 4, 2011. Roasted tomato and pesto pizza. Posted by sarahedalrymple under Main Dish. I like to think I was a decent eater as a kid (definitely not the kind who refuses all colorful or healthy foods), but I would NOT BUDGE on tomatoes. Every summer my parents grew tomatoes in our garden and every year my dad would try so hard to get me to eat them. I think he was convinced that some evil friend had fed me a. Then I moved on to sweet yellow a...

Stories on stories…and other literary encounters. Author Archives: Mary Franklin. September 4, 2011. Not your typical day in the park…. A very recent novel by Ernest Cline, and enjoyed every moment of the game, err…I mean, book. THIS is the way for a bookworm to get into video games!
