http://garlicgingerturtles.blogspot.com/2011/08/we-love-cornwall.html
Garlics and Ginger Turtles. Wednesday, 17 August 2011. We've just been away for a week in Cornwall and had the best time. We've never been down there before and are now kicking ourselves that we've left it this long and will definately be going again. The whole place is just so beautiful, especially the coastline:. We spent so much time on the beaches, the kids especially loved playing in the sand:. And there was so much fun to be had, with this probably being the highlight, a nice bit of Beach Sumo:.

Sunday, 4 September 2011. And do you know what? There is ...

Cookie Family Karate: July 2014
http://cookiefamilykarate.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, 7 July 2014. Feels a bit like that round here, doesn't it? I can't believe it's been over a year since I posted on here. I feel a bit like an imposter on my own blog! What's that all about? It had a huge impact on my time in the dojo (which became pretty much non-existent after a while). I did manage to make it back to training for a few weeks before Christmas last year then my husband's work schedule had a dramatic change. He was working much further away from home and much longer hours mean...

Cookie Family Karate: June 2011

Wednesday, 8 June 2011. Do You Want To Be A Black Belt? Following bow out at the senior classes Shihan usually takes a little time to give out any notices about upcoming events, to comment on how he thinks the class went and to generally talk about any points he feels need to be raised. Wow That gave me some serious pause of thought. My initial response was “Why would he even need to ask that? So then. Do I want to train for Black Belt? Immediately the answer for me is YES. Maybe the more important quest...

Cookie Family Karate: May 2013
http://cookiefamilykarate.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 30 May 2013. Well, I finally made it. After almost 4 years of karate training I tested for and was awarded my 1st Dan Black Belt in Isami Ryu karate on Saturday 25th May. Needless to say with my big sister having just flown out for a holiday in Greece, the hospital visiting and the worry put something of a scupper in my training preparation. Thankfully I had already written my presentations (and kept on practising them to my steering wheel on many trips to and from the hospital car park! It was...

Cookie Family Karate: April 2012

Tuesday, 3 April 2012. When Life Kicks You In The Teeth. For all of our martial arts training, there really is no defense against those times when life chooses to kick you in the teeth! We've had one of those moments around here lately. Sadly my Mum passed away suddenly on 14th February. She went from being in reasonably good health to not being with us any more in the space of around 36 hours. It was quite the rollercoaster (one I definitely wouldn't pay to ride again! And completely knocked me for six.
