Journal of our experiences in Tokyo. Sunday, October 28, 2012. Autumn trip: Nikko National Park. Two years ago we visited the beautiful temples and historical heritage of Nikko. This time we wanted to visit Nikko again, but focus on the natural beauty of the area. Therefore, we decided to make it a weekend holiday in autumn, and enjoy the autumn foliage of Okunikko (the national park of Nikko). In front of the Ryuzu Waterfall. It is the end of the Japanese school year, and for all those students who are graduating big ceremonies and parties are being held. Graduation ceremonies are an important part of the Japanese education culture. The ceremony is held in all schools from elementary school to university. Journal of our experiences in Tokyo. Sunday, April 29, 2012. On the 26th of April the aikido community world wide commemorates the passing of the founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. At the hombu dojo, this commemoration takes place in the form of screening movies of Ueshiba, followed by a gathering with drinks and speeches. Journal of our experiences in Tokyo. Saturday, August 25, 2012. Ryogoku: Edo-Tokyo Museum (& Sumo). Ryogoku lies on the east side of the Sumida River, an area of Tokyo were we never went before. It is known as the Sumo-district, with the famous Kokugikan Sumo Stadium, various sumo stables (were the professional sumo wrestlers live and train), and restaurants selling typical Sumo food. Journal of our experiences in Tokyo. Saturday, May 18, 2013. This month will be the one year anniversary of the Tokyo Skytree. Although we had seen the skytree from a distance, towering over the other skyscrapers in Tokyo, we hadn't visited it yet. This month, during the Golden Week holidays we finally had the change, together with Daphne's parents, the admire the view from the Skytree! We arrived at 8am, and there already were a lot of people! The observatory is very nice, and the view is beautiful!

Last weekend the yearly Roppongi Art Night was held: from sunset to dawn the whole area of Roppongi was centred around art. After a weekend of waking up early and studying all day until evening, we had to prove our Japanese skills at our exams. Final exams at Yoshida Language School consists of two days of exams.
